  1. Below is a link to an article about Faisal Hussein, the Danforth shooter. His shooting sprees was touted as a gun control issue instead of an islamic terrorism issue. https://thenationaltelegraph.com/national/2mye9dp7si9cw0sutyzwibzgbkctcm?fbclid=IwAR1vWDwPnPOvfs4iO3iAGu5qL00lQ2mumxftqLGgX20NKj-fDa8wiKd1A4Q Our government and media aren't doing their part to keep Canadians safe. Their attack on law-abiding citizens is pathetic.

  2. The Dems and the MSM carefully controlled the images coming out of immigrant facilities at the US border, much like you'd expect to see from news sources in NoKo. Instead of showing the extremely cramped, covid-friendly conditions that children were trying to sleep in, they showed pictures of kids outside playing soccer. 4 of them. Are you fuckin' kidding me, that in a facility with 1,000 Latin-American children only 4 wanted to play soccer? And how can they be claiming that the sleeping conditions were safe from covid? This is a NoKo-esque level of propaganda. The people who are dumb enough to watch CNN would allow Chris Cuomo to smack them upside the head with a stick that says 'idiot'. The MSM wasn't allowed in and they didn't care at all. Instead they fawned on Biden and acted like he's a hero for handling covid (with Trump's vaccines). Could anyone say what Biden changed in the US to suddenly fight covid? How did the propaganda machine go from "It's all bad" to "Everything's coming up roses" when nothing changed that wasn't purely a result of Trump's policies? Here's the reality: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gop-senators-migrants-babies-border-facilities Could the US MSM get any more pathetic? Can anyone name 1 way that America's MSM is more accurate and honest than NoKo's news network?

  3. This happened most fundamentally when Canada's natural ruling party, the Liberal Party of Canada, shifted left to steal votes from the NDP and get Justin elected. JT was a vocal admirer of China and relations between China and Canada thrived until the misgivings about trade imbalances and China's increased influence caused Trump to draw lines and make sure Canada took the US side, which she did. That's what the Meng Huawei-two Michaels morass is about. The US asserted herself and forced the issue of Canada's allegiance. Dig deeper and you can find a history since WW2 of Canada backing off of its real hard power (third and fourth largest air force and navy at the end of the war), first reducing its armament production, including mach- speed aircraft under Diefenbaker, the trimming and unification of forces under pacifist Trudeau senior, and the promotion of peace-keeping as the chief symbol of Canada's military engagement (Pearson). It happened in industry with the outsized pursuit of foreign investment, even when it became a matter of national security (sale of Nortel, China's purchase of parts of the oil patch), and an over-reliance on NAFTA and global trade (which worked to boost exports until most industry offshored). While our interests are mostly the same as the US's, we can't talk seriously about Canada specific national interests without a restoration of some of the independence we have lost. Pacifism and multilateralism can be Canadian tools and approaches, but only if they are freely chosen and the ability to act unilaterally and aggressively are still choices available in our toolkit. Increasingly they are not.

  4. The "two Michaels stuff" is a political side show with no significant lasting impact in the larger scheme of things. Hell, there are far more Canadians locked up in the U.S., Canada's "most important ally". There fate does not form the foundation of a lasting policy change either way. Good...then Canada should stop talking about the virtues of "human rights" and other neoliberal bullcrap that has little influence on China, and has been used to criticize Canada and the West in like fashion. The Chinese are first and foremost pragmatists with little patience for the virtue signaling pablum that many in Canada value so dearly even as their lunch is being eaten. China respects power, not weakness...so maybe start there...at home.

  5. All good observations. There is nothing sustainable or renewable in removing a 200 year old tree from the forest. It is gone forever - for you and your kids and the kids of their kids. If the practice was sustainable you wouldn't need to build new forestry roads to new areas "harvesting" new blocks. Out west here it is 90% based on old forest removal. There is no such thing as "forest management". It is all forest devastation. I can go on and on about the effects, but I have done it already before.

  7. Too late for that, and Canada gets more excited and organized about boycotting American products like Heinz ketchup than Chinese electronics or a myriad of other goods. And even if you did, Chinese parts are now more integrated into global supply chains and products than anything Canada could fathom to boycott anyway. Frankly, it was easier to get Canadians to hate Trump (and his base) than the Chinese government....very ironic since it was Trump that challenged China while the peanut gallery did mostly nothing but business as usual, including Canada. Economics trumps virtue...as always.

  8. According to urban legend now, when Slow Joe was still out on his very limited campaign in the summer of 2019: Biden told donors at an event at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan on Tuesday evening that he would not “demonize” the rich and promised that “no one’s standard of living will change, nothing would fundamentally change,” Bloomberg News reported. Never mind that this was coming from the same dweeb who's spent almost half a century in Washington, sucking up money from big donors and willing to do anything to please the high rollers, what's really important with that statement is that Joe was already declaring that a new Biden Administration would just pick up where the Trump Admin left off on the issues that are important to them MONEY - and how to get more of it! And because Biden's policies on the border, Covid-19, military spending, foreign wars, top down stimulus spending, stopping any bills to raise minimum wage and public healthcare etc., all of the fighting between Democrats and Republicans has been relegated to race and other identity issues, along with some social issues that have little impact on the bottom line for business. Both sides go to war against each other over who is/is not a racist; whether or not to rename schools and public buildings that had been named after slavery-supporting rebels like Robert E. Lee, banning the rebel Stars n Bars Confederate States flag etc.. Not saying that these issues aren't important to some people, but whether or not a school is named after Robert E. Lee is not going to put food on the table for anyone, or deal with pressing economic issues, where the two combatting parties walk in unison, regardless of hysterical media and social media from partisans of both sides, who are mostly focused on distracting working people on side issues, while its same old/ same old in Washington!

  10. They are not very "renewable" if they are over-exploited and poorly managed. And you rightwing knobs need to consider that forest management has to properly take into account the fact that the overall climate is warming along with rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Add in more and more people moving in to rural forested areas where they have greater impact on wildlife...whether they are hunters or not. That's what has happened in much of Ontario. Until 40 or 50 years ago, there weren't enough people living in wilderness areas to have an impact. And from the 80's on, attempts to stop the urban spread are resisted by money -- BIG MONEY. So, if you worship Capitalism, this is your god at work! The net result means a drying out of most forests from longer droughts, and more and more pine beetles moving north as winters become shorter and warmer....eating trees from the inside out. By the time foresters notice a pine beetle infestation, trees are already dead inside and just waiting to fall over....unless a forest fire makes a mad rush through all the dead, dried out timber and a lot of people who thought it would be fun to live in the woods end up running for their lives back to the nearest city!

  11. Well, we sure can't depend on corporations to do it. Only governments can confront them, and only if somewhat unified. I think that unity could be arranged among the West, as well as other countries worried about China.

  12. ya want the real story see c-span the 17 Senators that had to go too Mexico to see what is going on on the Southern Border of the US check anywhere on the net they have posted the pics, its like animals in a cage, filthy living conditions, people piled on to top of people, NO COVID 19 tests or PPE or restrictions, The Covid 19 death totals are already rising again in the US shots in arms that pervert Joe Biden claims are false less than 100 million people, of witch 620,000 were given under POTUS Trump and warp speed

  13. So you might not be aware of it, but a couple of companies (Nike and H&M) have expressed 'concern' about whether the cotton they source from a province in China might be grown and picked with slave labor because China is using the Uighurs as slaves there. Well, no matter how polite you are, China does not tolerate even mild criticism. Both companies are now being 'boycotted' in China amid a big social media campaign launched by the government. Chinese have stopped buying their products for fear it will affect their social credit scores since the government knows everything you buy and everywhere you go. I bring this up because it's an example of how China controls companies all over the world. If you do business in or with China, China demands you bow to their view of reality. You must never criticize China in any way or say anything bad about its behaviour. All it takes is some minor thing, like one NBA coach tweeting support for the Uighurs, and Suddenly the NBA finds its games shut down there. If a TV show says something bad about China on a single episode China will then ban that production company from showing movies in China. And if it's owned by a big corporation, China will start putting pressure on that corporations sales and supplies to force it to reign in the production company. It doesn't matter if it was one episode of a show never even seen in China. China doesn't allow the slightest criticism. This is why China can commit genocide without more than muted criticism in the world. And if you think this doesn't impact you - it does. Because all the corporations have ties there and all of them are very careful not to offend the uber sensitive Chinese government. What western governments need to do is flat out ban the import of cotton from China, and begin to restrict the import of clothing made in China.
