  3. Racism is less of a problem now, at least in the west, than at any point in history. Same could be said for sexism and homophobia. But the media and the rest of the woke brigade act like things have never been worse. Was a breathless, front page story in the Post today, copied from the Washington Post, so you know it was big! It seems a 12 year old sent a racist message to an English football player no one in North America has ever heard of. Something along the lines of "You better not score tonight you black expletive!" Thankfully, he was promptly arrested. The media scans the world for any sign of white on black racism and then, sobbing in horror, they foist it on us all so we can all be similarly outraged.

  4. Yes it is speculation you're right. it's a stupid thing for a federal party leader to say. This is the 2nd time he's race-baited the government, the other time was in the House of Commons not long ago where he was removed from the HOC for those remarks of calling a Bloc MP racist and refusing to apologize. You can't just blast people with baseless accusations of racism whenever you feel like it. It's slander.

  5. No one has been able to demonstrate to me that 'systemic racism' even exists today. Usually when you ask they get angry and give you specific instances where someone allegedly did or said something racist. At best, they mention the Indian Act, but nobody likes the Indian Act and we'd love to get rid of it if we could get the indians to agree.

  6. Apparently Jagmeet thinks 100% of non-white criminals are shot or killed by police upon arrest?

  7. Well, the last poll I saw, from yesterday, I think, suggested the Liberals would get 188 seats if an election were held today, to the Tories 99.

  9. Pretty harsh. I would say Scheer is close but no cigar. I also think that this is a typical scandal, ie. Not enough to sink Justin, though it should. Now what I am REALLY INTRIGUED ABOUT is this marketplace of ideas you mentioned... when are we getting this?

  10. Too busy worrying about Trump. Besides, wouldn't this be Trudeau's 4th or 5th ethics violation with no consequences ?

  11. Yeah, was thinking about this last night when Erin O'Toole suggested in his email that there should be a fall election - I'm like, no way. Perhaps in a non-pandemic year I'd support that, but not right now.

  12. No, I'd not exclude you. You've shown the ability to debate my arguments and opinions, rather than attack me personally and try to get me fired and generally ruin my life. As for "definitive line of reasonability", it's not black and white. I think we can at least start with people being allowed to voice their opinions without having their lives ruined, and that cancel-culture should be restricted to only the intentionally rude, demeaning and discriminatory (or the obstinately ignorant and inconsiderate). Folks should have a chance to explain their positions , to be corrected (where warranted), to be educated and to have an opportunity to apologize in good faith rather than have their employers panic and fire them. What sort of consequences did they face? None from their employer. They (and the university) are being sued, and this will be a precedent-establishing case and (hopefully) a warning signal to overzealous academia. We'll have to wait and see, but I don't expect much. They have a point, and I'll argue to support it where I feel it's warranted. I can agree with Donald Trump on certain issues, though I loathe the man himself and think he's danger to humanity. I don't even know where to begin on how we fix things. I can't speak up myself publicly. Most people can't. It's going to require a bold stand from self-reliant (privately wealthy) public figures and probably a good number of martyrs to start making any meaningful change. Barring that, the alternative is a culture war, as you've said before. That will likely work itself out eventually, but at what cost?
