The condescending tone, pats on the head, and tut-tutting about left-wing sensibilities that accompanies most conservative attitudes in discussions involving the economy. The economy is drenched with the moral certitude of conservatism, notwithstanding the most important ingredient of our economy...the natural capital our planet provides. I'm a conservative who still can't understand what it is about conserving that fellow conservatives don't get. There's more to it than that, recall the suggestion that moderate Islamic people tell their extremes to stand down. Yes left-wingers need to do similar to their own which probably explains why I get cast as a con in my circle if I doubt that Jessica Yaniv is someone I need to take seriously. The thing we seem to have most in common here is that we're caught between a stupid and a dumb place.

And this is what the Left has been doing for the last half dozen or so years in particular, stoking fears of some great right wing, white supremacist conspiracy attacking the world. Every year we hear shrill warnings about the dangers of the far right, about the dangers of allowing anyone to promulgate 'hate' (defined by the Left as disagreement with the Left) and all of it is used to force silence on their opposition, and to force government and industry into censoring those who disagree with them. The fear mongering has all been on the Left for quite some time.

Left-wing censoriousness is a long overdue reaction to an absurdly exaggerated culture of moral and of course economic righteousness. Notice how it's other right-wingers accusing you of being in the herd of left wing sheep? I mean even Argus is a lefty now...some even think Charles Koch is a CNN stooge for crying out loud. It wasn't the left that invented the term cuckservative. It's like I've been saying for years the right-wing isn't a place it's a direction. Mostly downhill.

Many make a statement and do not ask for discussion or give a God damn about discussion. That is a fact. When it happens repeatedly with new posters its a pattern and there is a reason for the pattern. Most of it is spam. Its automated spam coming out of Russia, Turkey, Iran, North Korea, Syria and it repeats on many forums. I am also talking about identical syntax that gives people with multiple identities away. They use identical grammar and phrases, identical headlines except for changing the topic and they stick to one theme usually it is to say something negative about the US or to incite hatred of the US. Its transparent, its repetitive and its annoying as hell but yah its not my forum. I should just ignore it and let it spread like cancer producing threads that simply incite negative rhetorical comments and soon go off rail. You know I am ranting nothing else. I doubt anyone but me gives a shit. I appreciate Monsieur Harder knows my frustration and I am not asking to censor anyone just challenge their words which I have. There is a double standard as to what certain older forum members are allowed to do once others complain about them. IMO fear mongering is one of the worst things you can do. People take drastic action against things that they are afraid of.

The problem is people and businesses and governments generally very much fear being accused of being racist, homophobic, sexist etc. It's terrible PR, so they do everything to avoid looking like it, including firing employees and cancelling whatever. With social media all you need is a small minority of loud mouths to put someone in the hot seat.

They don't need to burn books. They simply stop them from being published. Look at what happened to Woody Allen's bio. Hordes of people protested and the publisher walked away from it. Other publishers are actually having members of identity groups screen manuscripts, including fiction, to ensure nothing offends them. If it does, they don't publish it without changes.

The cause has already been lost in nations that have so called "hate speech" laws and tribunals. Liberalism dies by a thousand cuts.

Of course they're not encouraging critical thinking, they're trying to get people to just drink stupidity from CNN's firehose. I used to lie to my kids when they knew better just so that they'd correct me, or I'd play devil's advocate with them, just to get them into the habit of sticking to their guns and questioning what they hear from anyone and everyone. They didn't need to learn critical thinking in university. Their minds are their own. The eldest graduated without succumbing to leftist idolatry at all (she doesn't listen to me either lol) and the middle child is still a conservative after 2 years there. That one's also been a vegetarian since the end of grade 8, she has too much willpower to be broken by some dipshit CNN junkie. I don't fear sending my son there either, he'll be too interested in baseball and girls to take an interest in politics there. And he's a sciences guy. He won't really cross paths with any alt-left profs.

Canadians cross the border by a 2:1 ratio compared to Americans, and the U.S. has 10X the population. Keep the border closed for another year ! Not all trade is essential....stop those trucks too. Hockey and baseball are the most non-essential of all.
