You can actually often tell a hell of a lot about someone by what they're wearing. At 83, or whatever you are, you should know this already.3 points

https://thestarphoenix.com/news/local-news/heavy-smoke-from-train-derailment-stops-highway-16-traffic I am certain that the average anti-pipeline demonstration is nothing but a mindless, knee-jerk reaction to some media sponsored campaign of taking advantage of their ignorance, but they have once again scored a direct hit on Canada with a major crude derailment. FORTUNATELY, it happened between towns this time. What these idiots do not seem to comprehend is that pipelines have an extremely good record for public safety and environmental impact, and one that with modern technology can be improved even further (acoustic signature monitoring for physical threats and initiation of leakage). Railroads have a terrible safety record, just not something that the media is being bribed to highlight. Following Lac Megantic, Canada upped the standard of design of the former "111" rail tankers to a new level, and they are now somewhat safer, but the people who narrowly missed being roasted in rural SK yesterday probably don't see it as much comfort. What the current version of whatever this "climate change" movement might be, it is totally ignorant of the fact that petroleum in a carbon fuel based society is going to be around for a very long time, and if you block its transport by safe means, it will get transported by less safe means. Rail lines also run THROUGH most towns and cities along their way (since that is why the towns and cities came to exist - as nodes along our transportation networks) whereas pipelines are normally routed around (with obvious feed into cities for natural gas network). When will Canadians pull their collective head out of their ass and THINK for a change (thus, of course, not re-elect complete idiots)??1 point

Islam is not big on choices. Thus its name. If you choose Islam, "Welcome sister" If you decide to leave Islam "DEATH TO YOU, APOSTATE!"1 point
-
Also interesting that you view me as the radical when I dress however I want, while your sister is "free" while obeying the dictates of her religion and her husband. Very much like ISIS thinking. They must be so proud of you.1 point

The funiest was when I told you about my neighbour, who doesn't allow his wife outside the home without a buka and cuffs her across the head as they go to the car. You condemned me for "jumping to the conclusion" that he doesn't respect women. Just another example of how you excuse anything done in Islam and condemn those who call it out.1 point

Absolutely zero wrong with being a girl. The Quran/Hadiths state a woman's worth...you've no doubt heard at some point. Half that of a man...at least...often less when it comes to legal questions.1 point

Really Dia? How many of the 'modern Muslim' ladies where make up now? Lots! My youngest daughter tells me the younger female Muslim generation is going to change. Many of them are starting with the make up, shaving, perfect eyebrows. Hope she is correct. There is nothing wrong with dressing sexy. Depends where your going. I like being a girl and having so many options for clothing, hair, etc.1 point

Freedom FROM religion is far more important than freedom of religion. Islam is here to conquer...not participate in interfaith studies about how we're all equal.1 point

Funny how fundamentalist Islamic dress is "no indication" of what they believe, but someone in a KKK hood or a swastika t-shirt - she has no trouble judging. Her standards for Islam and Muslims are non-existent. She has none. Everything they do should be allowed in the name of tolerance, while Western people should go along with it all. And say nothing about barbaric practices. Do you think she even realizes how closely her propaganda and goals matches that of ISIS?1 point

The laws of armed conflict mandate military necessity, proportionality and collateral mitigation. The IDF is compliant in all respects and within their rights to defend Israel from attack. Collaterally mitigated precision military strikes against a deeply entrenched and fortified enemy launching indiscriminate military attacks from populated areas. The war criminals are Hamas, deliberately using the population as human shields, which is patently unlawful, Whereas precision air strikes against those criminals are patently lawful, military necessity against a military threat. Only useful idiots for the terrorists advocate against right to self defense with military force proportionate to a military threat. If Hamas did not pose a military threat, air strikes might not be a neccesity, if it was merely rifles fired into Israel, perhaps not proportionate. As Gaza however is a military fortress, launching widespread rocket attacks into population centers, air strikes are proportionate to that level of threat. The laws of armed conflict are not a shield from behind which terrorists may launch unlawful attacks, you must follow the law to be protected by it. Collateral damage is not prohibited, Israel is simply bound to take reasonable steps to mitigate it, fighting a war in of itself however, is not illegal.1 point

Now you are equating a person's normal and natural desire to take care of their body and have some pride in their appearance as "brainwashing" and that I'm some kind of pathological monster. But Islamic fundamentalist dress is championed by you as being a legitimate "choice". You really are a warped piece of work. You're perfect for ISIS. You champion all the same things they do.1 point
-
I really don't get this 'disproportionate' argument. Like, if there's just two gunmen the police should only use two police officers to attack them? A terrorist group only has a hundred guys so you should limit the people fighting them to a hundred guys? I'm willing to bet that wherever you live, if you had to keep running down to the bomb shelter because the guys across the river kept shooting rockets and missiles across at you you'd want the government to do whatever it took to get them to stop.1 point

IDF air strikes against the Gaza strip are proportionate under the laws of armed conflict The war criminals are the ones firing military grade rockets while employing human shields. The IDF conducts mandated collateral mitigation and employs precision guided weapons, there is not indiscriminate nor disproportionate use of force by the IDF Israel is within its rights to defend itself with military force against a military threat Hamas is responsible for ensuring no such threats attack Israel from within their territory. The accusation of disproportionate use of force is false propaganda disseminated, whether by intent, or simply ignorance as to the letter of the law. Ha Yitaron Ha Enoshi1 point

Your arguments make no basis other than to rationalize for why you think its acceptable for Muslim women to cover their faces and engage in practices of covering their faces as well as I suppose to defend the right of all fundamentalists to wear visibly religious statements when serving in public offices. You steer clear of explaining how religious statements/appearances do not conflict with the need to remain neutral in public as a public representative. You steer clear of explaining what law can be consistent that allows a covering for Islamic believers but not KKK believers. Your discussions invariably always discuss defending Islam as a religion which is not the issue, and the right of Muslims to unlimited expression in Canada because you feel other Canadians already have it which they do not. No Canadian can sit in a public position without having to deal with issues of conflict of interest and the test for confict of interest is the appearance of not an actual one existing and again you won't touch that. The fact that certain women chose to cover up and its not necessarily in the Koran as an edict or order does not make it better or worse. It still remains an issue if anyone wants to wear a specific type of clothing that makes them appear conflicted to being able to serve all people equally and please do not tell me I have to be confident in talking to someone fully face covered or wearing a KKK hood or a Satan robe or for that matter all kinds of crosses, etc., just as in reverse if I want to wear all black, grow a beard and curly side locks, wear a specific hat I am making a statement. I may not intend that statement to be evil or unfair but certain people who do not share that faith will not feel because I wear what I do, I can be neutral to them. You would not be engaging in your rationalizations if the person triggering the anxiety was wearing a KKK hood or wearing Satanic outfits. Who you kidding with your tolerance. Its selective because you feel you have an agenda to defend Islam. You don't. You don't defend Islam you defend fundamentalist Islam. Progressive Muslims came to this country because government and religion are separated. Please do not tell me that Islamic fundamentalists should work in any Canadian government. Their religion believes all non Muslims are not legally lequal to Muslims. Don't ask me to look away with such bigotry. Also please do not lecture me or anyone that violence or intolerance in Canada against woman has anything to do with what they wear. Give that line of reasoning a rest. Women get raped and abused because of far more complex reasons than what they wear and your rationalizations of fundamentalist Islamic appearance engage in a defective analysis that because some men are violent against women in Canada no one should label fundamentalist and for that matter mainstream Muslim as having conflicts with or social values in Canada towards gender equality-oh bull shit. All religions have issues with women and human bodies and how they should be expressed. Pretending Islam is not any worse than other religions in this respect is bullshit. Its an insult to all women let alone Muslim women who know better. As for Christians, I don't like some of them just like I don't like my fellow Jews or some Buddhists or Hindus or Siekhs. Is that evil? I don't like some people especially when they try impose views on me or to be tolerant of their intolerant views. You smell I will tell you you smell. Too much tolerance for the wrong things. I do not tolerate intolerant beliefs. Its not asking much to be neutral when representing the public.1 point

We should arrest anyone who can't drive and put them in camps in the North. That would have every Chinese Canadian in jail by night fall. Then the Chinese would get it. Also everyone should boycott Walmart. War! Let's go.1 point

Choice of sexual partner is not sex education its a subject of human relations. There is and should remain a difference and not be considered one and the same. Learning about the functions of the body and discussing sexual behaviour and sexual choice of partners are distinct topics. Sexology is distinct from learning about human body functions and parts until certain people with specific agendas want them combined and therein becomes the problem. Combining the two should happen further on not at 5,6.1 point

Its possible to have a safe pipeline. The two are not impossible. I also I prefer trees to people. They are not as sappy and they have established good roots in this country. They provide homes for many, shelter in time of need and a place where dogs can express themselves.1 point

Yes, making kids feel ashamed of their sexuality should be out of parent's control. Normalizing normal human behavior through media us a good thing imo. Instead of having kids grow up loathing themselves and hiding a huge part of themselves from family and friends, they can now look forward to acceptance within Western society, even if some people are still stuck in the dark ages. Kids I knew experimented, even without media portraying same-sex relationships. We didn't even know what homosexual meant: merely practicing with each other to be ready for boyfriends in a few years time. Or, in the case of one girl, practicing what her daddy taught her.1 point

I'm not saying one side isn't necessarily worse than the other. I'm saying neither side can claim to be saints. Both sides have legit gripes too. There are no "sides" to take overall, just many different issues in the whole conflict. Some things done by Israel or Palestinian leadership groups just can't be defended. To take one side over the other is to get sucked into the sh!t-show. Things shouldn't be looked at as "overall this side is good vs this side is bad", it should be looked at on an issue-by-issue basis.1 point

Yes, we know how you feel about this topic. If even ONE Christian does something, it's not an "Islamic" problem then. It becomes a "world problem." How convenient. I get it. I just have difficulty suspending the part of my brain that tells me the vast majority of non-Islamic women in the world are not at risk of being beaten or killed for not wearing headcoverings. I tend to not ignore information like that, while for apologists - it's super easy.1 point

We knew this would happen if our markets were increasingly dependent on China, eventually your chickens come home to roost. China uses its economic muscle to call the shots, and silence the critics. But we didn't do anything, couldn't, as we were too drunk on the easy money, selling our souls by the pound. Donald Trump is the only man today standing up to China. We need to elect more leaders like president Trump. Because only a SOB like Trump can say to China what he says, and stay the course and not give in. That is the way to get their attention. In fact one of the Trump administrations demands is that China do something about stemming the export of fentanyl which is coming out of China and flooding the whole world. Not a single other country/ leader has the gall to stand up to them.1 point

From the Quran... "Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors." https://quran.com/5/32 PS: I did not write the Quran. Allah wrote it...God.0 points
