  2. If some fields are clearly stable and accepted, others are still battlefields of the tension. It is accepted that one can choose its religion and wear what its religion orders to. It is also accepted that if you work in a position of autority like a policeman, you must wear specific garments to show what you represent and the role you play. Now the conflict is, some people think they can use the freedom of practicing religion of that first field and apply it into the second field where there are rules of homogenization. They think their right to practice their religion is stronger and overpass the common good. This is where we are divided. Because it's now the religion that set rules into a field where rules have been defined by everyone, for everyone, for the common good. It is a total intrusion way above one's individual rights. Like if the power of religion is absolute.

  4. How many people here have said that Islam needs to reform itself as Christianity did? Well, this would be the starting point. If it's forced by government, it won't happen. People will resist. Imagine if government told you how to dress.

  5. Except for "aboriginals" in Canada..."Canadian reasoning" was/is just swell, right ? Maybe they should convert to Islam to get far more protection from "Canadian reasoning".

  6. I have more faith that some moron will point out someone they don't like to a librarian and demand they do something about them. We are after all up to our necks in a complaint-based society where the expectation that the authorities do something is very strong. There's absolutely no doubt about it. Politicians who passed this crap know full well it will not stand a constitutional test and the only reason they did anyway is to appease a racist base of support that should be ignored.

  7. If ordinary citizens were to lobby the government to make this kind of oppression against women legal, people here would be totally against it. But because it's done in the name of a religion, we are required to "accomodate" it and argue in favor of it.

  8. I have not seen anywhere where it is a religious thingy, it is a man over women thingy. No need for it here in this country. And anyone that wants it ,has mommy issues.

  10. Why dance around the issue. I support this legislation if only that it affords some measure of security, and feeling of security, for transit customers and transit workers, and employees working in provincial government offices offering government services. What is the downside of having persons show their face for a short period of time, as they are the ones to benefit from whatever they expect from the public employee. Don't get me wrong, I advocate this should apply to anyone hiding their face be it a burqa or a ski mask.
