Equally matched by the left wing's celebration of economic injustice to fund social programs.2 points

I can no longer stand our form of society. I think about the title of a book called “The Sociopathic Society”. We can hardly be called a society; it’s more of a big incoherent dog eat dog system we live in. Civil society in North America, people caring for one another and talking to one another, has practically broken down. A majority of people are more concerned about marijuana legalization than the troubles we all will face. I can’t stand that my world being confined to Home, Road, Work, Home, grocery store, Road, Work, Home. I can’t stand the isolation, I can’t stand that most people have nothing important to say to one another, I can’t stand ugly buildings and their fluorescent lighting, I can’t stand the pragmatic immoral indifference of the adult population to $70000 a year for college tuition, Health care extortion, corporate tyranny, abusive and comically incompetent schools (all of them), Endless wars killing millions to drive value into lockheed martin stock making the world a less safe place to live in, ect. ect. ect. (in other words: Anything that matters is off limits!) And when I try to talk to middle class adults and wealthy ones and professors about this they give me the look “Hey, don’t talk about this stuff; everything is great - be optimistic. You are a weirdo for even bringing this up. If you think the world is such a bad place then maybe you should work harder at school”. Let me tell you older folk that I’m not looking forward to joining this “system” and I’d rather have this thing destabilize/blowup than live in this for the rest of my life. For the past three generations, the compensation for living in this horror system was great material wealth, but what if that is taken away? What if you destroy culture, civil relation, security, friendships and leave nothing in its place? Get ready folk! The next economic crash is when the shit is really gonna hit the fan! Most people are hanging on by their finger tips; another crash will kick those finger tip off completely. Just hope the mostly mindless college kids don’t ruin any of the possible changes that have to take place with “social justice”, “peoples movements”, and by being “Revolutionaries” with a capitol R!1 point

On the CBC news today there is some Native Indian group whining about wanting to get rid of the name of our first Prime Minister of Canada Sir John A. Mcdonald's name taken off some school building wall. They say his name is offensive to them. The chit that is going on in America is starting to spill over into Canada. I guess that they should also then want to maybe go after having Sir John A. Mcdonald's picture next and have it removed from our ten dollar bills. The liberally insane morons are truly taking over. The architects of all this mess going on about statues and monuments must be truly having one hell of a good laugh watching all the fools out there creating chaos and havoc and all in their anti-American name. What fools.1 point

Keep pursuing me about something that has nothing to do with me if it makes you feel better. The point is that a stupid man made a stupid claim. Rather than acknowledge what I'm saying you try to paint me as in favour of illegal drugs, or not having a better plan than the head of the US government. Trump people just love him, though. He could go on TV and sniff his own crotch and they'll come on here telling us how great he is. Carry on...1 point

I went out to Idaho to watch the total eclipse. Perfect weather. Amazing sight! Here's some cool photos. The first two are at Smith Rock, Oregon. I didn't take them but I have climbed those routes so that was pretty cool to see. Last one, is identical to one my friend took while we were watching it.1 point

Can you provide a link of where Trump had black people beaten at his rallies? Did he target them because they were black? Details please.1 point

No. Che was a terrorist, psychopath, torturer, racist, rapist. So why do you admire him? Is it "chic" among you fascist leftists to wear a T-shirt with his picture?1 point

1. Talk about this stuff, but still be optimistic. 2. Great material wealth from company salary has been on the decline for decades. Nobody is entitled to wealth. Everybody is responsible for culture. 3. The college kids I meet are balanced, hard working and wise. I trust things will be great when they take over.1 point

The answer is to talk to people in real life, not go on to web forums and spew discord through paranoid fantasies. I go into my pluralistic society grateful that we have what we have, without fear of Muftis hiding under my pillow. Breathe the air, it cures sickness.1 point

This is a concern of some Muslims, too. I read this article some years ago when it came out (2013) but it echoes the above article. Her thoughts on multiculturalism in Canada are interesting, too: She also covers 9/11 and Canada's immigration loopholes.1 point

As long as the clueless maintain power the rest of us can get as smart as we want and it simply won’t matter. The clueless own the media and their fake truths are repeated to believability and your real truths are not. Hating on the over 68 all white crowd is pointless. Their place will be taken by another group with no more enlightenment than they. I see plenty of young people smoking cigarettes and they all started after the negative health effects about cigarettes became known. That should tell you that generations do not improve in time. As civilization travels down the arc of collapse generations become more decadent and unfocused until like ’roundup’ sprayed on a field of weeds reality kills everything.1 point

So, if one of these "non-refugees" receives welfare (ahem...tax money) and then buys, say, a Tim Horton's double double - could a cop take the coffee and call it a "proceed of crime"?1 point

What are these different standards? You've mentioned the Catholic inquisition but those were centuries past. Let me ask you a question, then. If the Catholic church was still actively holding inquisitions around the world which involved murdering people who were heretics, would you not feel disposed to perhaps sanction that church and its followers?1 point

No it's not. Refugee crisis shows reality of globalization, says Germany's Schaeuble The horrors of Europe’s migrant crisis are just another part of the new global economy. Globalization has lead to a lot of economic injustice and a flood of people seeking to escape it. I don't blame them one bit and power to them. I feel exactly the same way about environmental refugees fleeing climate change which is just as often as not also associated with pressures of globalization. As I said earlier the lines between conflict, economic and environmental refugees have blurred to irrelevancy given how closely and often they intersect. And as always, we haven't seen anything yet.1 point

Actually it is - it's a consequence of globalization. So is scape-goating foreigners for the injustices globalization has created in our own society. No, it's just money, and the right wing's celebration of economic injustice of course.1 point

Nice! I notice that the term “neo-Nazi” has now become an all-purpose label to be applied liberally to whomever the leftists are demonizing at any given moment; apparently not realizing that in so doing they’re merely watering down whatever meaning it once had to utter irrelevance and converting it to a mere epithet and conversation stopper. Yes, America’s own propaganda, perfected during the Cold War and bolstered by a pitifully and by design inadequate educational system, has turned modern day Americans into little more than pathetic regurgitators of their masters’ mendacious propagandist shit. Truly an epic shit storm in the making!1 point

Blackbird I think he is going to grant a blanket amnesty myself. I also think he is deliberately undermining the very laws Omni quoted as a deliberate political tactic as he does not have the balls to go to Parliament and say let's just change the laws to allow anyone to come which is what he has now put into practice. His advisors have told him he will win the next election doing this as all minorities will now have sufficient numbers to vote him back in. His handlers are convinced this will pander to minorities to get him the votes to come back in. The question is will it? His handlers believe minorities are concentrated in cities which carry the day on election night and he will win cities heavy with ridings full of minorities. I think he is going to lose Quebec this time round and thinks rural Canada is not enough to stop him. Its a very deliberate ethnic pandering platform. Its deliberate right down to the use of a visible minority refugee from Somalia as an Immigration Minister. Its pandering at its most obvious and its essence is quite racist. Its not an exclusive message at all. Remember his irregulars are choking out legitimate refugees and immigrants.1 point

That's what happens when money is free to roam the borderless unregulated world we created for it. Local economies are subordinate to a globalized economy that seeks to export virtually every natural resource that's available. The world was warned in spades this would happen and that the result would be....an escalating refugee crisis amongst other things. No doubt the other side of the island will be stripped of it's natural capital too.1 point

What you're saying is that there's some sort of left-wing media oligarchy conspiring against right wingers. What you're saying is ridiculous.1 point

The plan? Who needs a plan, the refugee crisis will take care of itself...won't it? I find it interesting that the immigration minister says the situation is unpredictable. Most people were talking about this and anticipating it back in January, most people knew that there would be an influx of illegal crossings once the weather warmed up. It may have been unpredictable to the Liberals, but it certainly wasn't to everyone else in the country who was paying any attention at all to what was going on.1 point
-
Me either. When you make the choice (and it totally is a "choice") to throw your own HUMAN rights and the HUMAN rights of every other person out the window, you don't get to then come back and claim your HUMAN rights. Humans who choose to act like animals, choose to give up their own HUMAN rights.1 point

Have you carefully studied the video of the incident in C'Ville? His brake lights were on the whole time he was “recklessly screaming” forward. Then before he began backing up and the carnage really began, his car was engulfed by enraged protesters, one of who bashed in his rear window with a club. Seeing as he had only one way out of there – in reverse – his actions there were completely understandable if he was in a panicked state. Even more so if he was put there to do what he did and much of the crowd rage was provided by agent provocateurs in a largely stage managed “incident.” MUCH more going on here than what the “official” narrative indicates. Official story? PURE BULLSHIT, as usual. Anyone who trusts the MSM is out to lunch.1 point

If there are times when hate can be justified then being sick of being hated is probably one of them. Maybe decades of overt right-wing scorn and sneering hatred for the left has finally passed a breaking a point. Its telling that less than a year of pushback has caused the right-wing to come so unglued. Pinochet would know what to do.1 point

Very confusing. I'm independent because although I admittedly abhor Trump, I also think that the media pile-on is a bit much. I also see opportunities for a leader who is loosely aligned to make decisions outside of the box. That doesn't mean it will work, or that the US will "win". It means that you can assess actions for what they are and not pretend to be a politician while posting on MLW.1 point

1. Ok, but why reply to my post ? Keeping statues of the people who lost strikes me as a Canadian thing more than an American one. Anyway, it doesn't matter. If people want the statues gone, they should go. 2. Past mistakes. There are far worse ones than that done by corporations that are still going. 3. Um. 1938 vs 2017 I think.1 point
-
Agreed. That's politics though. Independent thinkers, and voters, are more willing to give Trump a chance if he is trying a new plan.1 point

That's a cute nickname, but it's an unsubstantiated claim, and an irrelevant one. Nobody should discount your views based on your background. They can, if they like, *privately* draw a line between your subjectivity and your point-of-view but it's irrelevant to the discussion. After all, we're all biased right ? In any case, my offer to reveal the extent/non-extent of my Jewishness stands if taxme addresses the question on his potential biases. I can still discuss nationalist groups with white nationalists, even ones who make dishonest claims as he has done. But let's just get it out there where we come from.1 point
-
No, it's in your court. If you explain your views on white nationalism, clear up which parts of Hitler's doctrine are in your comfort zone, I'll tell you my religion. Deal ?1 point

1. The media, from what I have seen, seems to be relieved that something resembling a plan has come out of the white house. Most of the world doesn't participate in the binary cheerleading that you have engaged in on this thread. The Taliban aren't going to change their tactics much unless the numbers are way off from the ones already leaked from the WH. 2. These things aren't likely decided by the president himself. There are things that Obama did better than Trump and things Trump does better too. This binary thinking of yours is so tiresome to try to engage with, frankly. It's like a superhero comic book from the 50s. I have come on here to try to point out that this is an opportunity for a turning point for Trump, and that his flip--flop may represent a new approach. But you are just continuing to spout this superhero nonsense. Carry on with your hero worship on here, then. I'll be watching and analyzing, and discussing with others on here who have more insights to offer.1 point

If an Arab speaking person said about Canada, the US and Europe that we were identical, they couldn't tell us apart, and we all hated Muslims, would that be true?1 point
-
That is just stupid. We are "ethnically identical" to Americans, Western and Eastern Europeans, Russians, Australians; you can't tell us apart by looking at us. Nonetheless there is a lot of variety in culture, laws and government in these countries. There is a standard Egyptian that is used for written communication, in a similar way that English is used throughout the world for business. English also has different dialects so the English spoken in the UK or Australia is not exactly the same as English spoken in Canada, although English speakers can generally understand each other, even if some effort is needed. There are similar differences in dialects in Arab-speaking countries. Statements like "they are identical and you can't tell them apart" when speaking of millions of people from dozens of countries sound remarkably ignorant and racist.1 point
-
I didn't really find anything wrong with Trump's statement. Here's why. The views of the white nationalists/supremacists are stupid and offensive. Tough. People are allowed to have stupid, offensive views. I don't often quote jurists but Oliver Wendel Holmes got it right. “If there is any principle of the Constitution that more imperatively calls for attachment than any other it is the principle of free thought — not free thought for those who agree with us but freedom for the thought that we hate.” We do not, in other words, have free speech to protect speech which is popular and inoffensive. That sort of speech does not require any protection. We have free speech to protect speech which is offensive, unpopular and distasteful. So this group with stupid views wanted to hold a march and a demo in a park. They got a permit. All is good. Then there was this other group from the far left. They could not disagree more strenuously with Holmes or with the concept of freedom of speech, assembly, and thought. As far as they are concerned only speech they agree with should be allowed. So they organized and set out with the well-stated goal of preventing the other group from having their march and demo. And they came equipped with clubs, chains, pepper spray, helmets, shields and body armor. That they call themselves anti-fascists yet espouse the behavior of fascists is ironic, but immaterial. They are the cause of the violence in Charlottesville. The duty of the police was to keep them away from the white supremacists. The police failed, and the white supremacists never got to hold their demo. What will probably happen next is the white supremacists will apply for another permit. The city will refuse. It will go to court. The city will lose. Hopefully the police will be better organized for the next march, perhaps arresting many of the 'anti-facist' organizers and confiscating their weaponry before the demo takes place. Now I'm not defending the white supremacists. Their views are moronic and they're a violent bunch and probably have a lot of sub-literate cretins among them - much like that idiot who drove his car into the other side. They also came equipped to fight, knowing who they'd be facing. But they have a right to their views and their demo in a free society. Again, the failure here is of the police in keeping the groups separated.1 point
