What's wrong with Support our Troops stickers on government vehicl

Saying that I think, and feel Canada got hoodwinked by the Americans. Are allies got attacked and so we as good and close friends we had their back.

Thats not how history is recorded....Canada prcatically swam the great lakes and ran to Washinton waving the flag We will go, we will go....trying to save some face for turning them (the US) down for Iraq....

Anyway back to Afghanistan, after seeing all of this bullshit going down it starts to make you think. Who is this asshole buddy that we are backing up? Is our participation in Afghanistan all about oil as well? Is this even our war anymore?

A person who was elected by the Afghan people....There is not oil in Afghan , none that could or would justify the amount spent wagging the war ....after the Taliban were defeated, removed from power, and the newly elected Government installed, it was the Afghan Government that asked if NATO could stay to assist with security, and rebuilding the nation....Canada said Yes...

As for the 92 % not Knowing what the US is doing there, they know, the guilty ones always know they are the first to run when we enter a village....

As long as enough people can be frightened, then all people can be ruled. That is how it works in a democratic system and mass fear becomes the ticket to destroy rights across the board. - James Bovard

I like to remind you this is Canada, not downtown Russia.

The socialist lunitics attacked my grandfather in Soviet Russia - the socialist lunitics attacked my brother in Canada..not much has changed - fools and idiot jostle for power - you have to put up a fight once in a while to keep them in check.

That's not entirely certain.

Nothing is certain in Afghanistan - never was 200 years ago and never was now. I respect Army guy and we had discussions a long while back regarding the misuse and abuse of our military class...Army Guy is proud of our forces and rightfully so. BUT I am sure he is not proud of our civilian military commanders...who are just plain stupid adventuring idiots..like McKay for instance...and that idiot _ Colonel Williams - what the hell was that about? Army Guy is pissed off-- and disappointed - because we wasted good men and woman on a cause that was not our cause - If you wanted to fight terrorism - go to the financers - In Saudi Arabia and invade the hell out of them! Don't go to some peasant rock pile and fight goat herding opium growers - They were NOT the threat -the real threat were our oil trading partners who screw you with one hand and take your money with the other.

That's not entirely certain.

I do know that Canadian armed personal did provide security for dozens of voting booths, and those voter boxes did not leave the eye of those in charge...Other NATO troops were doing the same across the country...of course we could not be every where, but in enough places to make a difference if someone was to stuff boxes or screw with the counts....

Strange, then, that both the BBC and CBC were reporting that there was widespread fraud in the last Afghan presidential election and enough Afghans called for a run-off vote that one was actually held.

A lot of the reports I read these days indicate that the greatest problem in Afghanistan is corruption, and it exists at the highest levels of government. Whoever they voted in, democratically or not, is probably our biggest impediment to success in winning this war.

And by the way, awareness of this problem goes back years. Our own politicians and generals know that without solving the problem, all other accomplishments will be nullified in a short time. These people have a long standing history of criminality and disrespect each others rights as human beings, and they have come to accept that as part of their way of life. That we should project our desire for a society modeled after our own and based on fairness/ equality is pure, naive folly!

Hey...government corruption is not limited to Afghanistan. Aren't you guys still trying to nail Mulroney?

There's a far better chance of nailing Chretch and some other Liberals. I understand that the Sponsorship debacle is still under active investigation and trials scheduled for later this year. Some miscreants have offered to be Crown witnesses for special treatment.

That's still a vast improvement over what prevailed before.

Sadly, yes, that, if true, would actually be an improvement.

It still, though, doesn't help support Army Guy's statement that Karzai, the "asshole buddy that we are backing up", as someone put it (I'm not sure who, since Army Guy doesn't quote properly), is a president elected by the majority of Afghan voters.

Army Guy:

I remember that too. What kind of weirdo's are we that we enter war with an eagerness bordering on joy?

Our Liberals are afraid of appearing soft on whatever it is that our Conservatives are hard on.

So long as this state of affairs persists the right wing will be a direction instead of a place and Canada will continue down the path the left is pushing it. It's not just weird it's perverse.

YES!

Let's support our troops regardless of what their moral and ethical merit is!

Who cares if they kill civilians and abuse the local populations?

Let's blindly support all military actions that are more motivated by corporate interests than the well being and protection of people!
