Related to the silly carbon taxes, British Columbia wants to pretend it is California:

Quote

The Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Renewable and Low Carbon Fuel Requirements) Act promotes the use of renewable fuel in transportation fuel blends by setting new requirements for transportation fuels, and fulfills B.C.’s commitment to adopt a low-carbon fuel standard similar to that of California.

Waist of time. If we are just going to keep increasing emissions at an ever growing rate, we are all eventually going to cook anyway and if the wealthiest, most advanced countries aren't going to take a lead, the rest of the world won't bother.

The effects of warming are being wildly exaggerated by the shrill voices of the Left. It has often been much warmer in our history and it didn't result in the end of human civilization.

Really? What do you base that act of faith on because it isn't based on current science. You must be a religious person. I can't understand how you can believe we can continue to pump greenhouse gasses into the air at and ever increasing rate and not suffer consequences. You believe our technology can do anything except stop doing what is causing the problem in the first place.

Doesn't matter anyway because the will to do anything about it just isn't there with enough people. When they can't ignore it anymore, it will be too late. I think our civilization as we know it is screwed and it will happen much faster than we think.

Actually it is one of those left coast things, a collaboration between California, Oregon, Washington State and BC.

So we are all doomed if Canada's carbon taxes are not adopted world wide ?   Good luck with that....I guess we are all doomed, just like we have been doomed by so many other things in the past.    Just add climate change to the list.

Canada has actually done very little to stop growth in GHG emissions, including a massive Kyoto FAIL.    Talk is cheap.

Yes, if you overlaid the graphs for 1990-2014 between Canada and the US you would hardly be able to tell them apart if they were scaled in percent of 1990 value. Both countries grew slowly during the 90's, and then flattened out with a drop after the recession and slow growth back to just under the previous levels. We need to do far more.

But you have a problem with us actually trying to do something.

I don't care what Canada does...just wanted to counter Canadian criticism of past and present U.S. climate change research and investment compared to Canada.

You don't care just like Canadians don't care about US politics. That's why you have 45,000 posts on this forum.

Right...because the topic usually pivots right back to the United States.   This is the Canadian way.

The subject is a Canadian carbon tax, it has sweet FA to do with the US.

Ignore, he comes from a country that is removing all references to climate change from government websites. They think ignoring it will stop it from happening.

I don't have that kind of power.   I don't think you understand my position on climate change...I am not a denier....it is changing.  My country has provided far more resources than yours to demonstrate this fact.

What you have repeatedly failed to understand is that....I don't care....climate is always changing.

As for all this change n' such...the dudes with the purple rivers and chewy air are probably doing the lion's share.

I haven't used my nasty two-stroke powered snow thrower for many years.   So climate change is good !

True enough. That offsets about 1/1000th of a second of this two-stroke Saigon traffic scene.

Which is the left turn lane??

That's what winning the war looks like...they need a Carbon Tax just like Canada !

Do you have a problem with running head first into a brick wall? Maybe, if you keep doing it, you know, for a hundred years or so, you might wear it down and do it some damage.

But probably not.

So why is the world getting hotter?

I don't know. Nobody does. The presumption is that the increase in CO2 emissions is responsible to some degree, though no one knows to what degree. There might be other factors at play.

I'm not saying do nothing. I'm saying that the present plan of trying to lower CO2 emissions is clearly not working and is not going to work barring technological advances which make other forms of power generation cheaper. When those forms emerge, our CO2 emissions will go down, and not before then.
