WOW, never seen this coming...It seems the UN is broke, and facing financial collapse... UN is blaming many of those that have not paid up their dues, to include the US, which is the largest contributor...Is this a warning to those who do pay on time that dues might go up......or this a warning that the UN might fade into the back ground....UN has lost it's knight in shinny armor image, and has become a organization with NO teeth to enforce any of it's policies or directives...as members pull away for certain aspects or internal UN departments... This is going to be good news for some....

So what is next, or is there something next...Maybe Carneys new world order...or something like that...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

With any luck an envoy of benevolent aliens from the United Galaxy are speeding on their way to invite us to join.

And tearing down everything the USA has built and stood for is Trump's objective.
Replace it with new Foundations where countries must pay $1 billion upfront and he's President for life.

The UN is largely about grift and optics. I mean seriously when was the last time it did something actually extremely useful and productive? It's basically become the Facebook of Nations

Those who are not getting sufficient grift from it are uninterested in spending their country's money on it and currently that includes America.

I doubt the grift is going to stop anytime soon so I suspect magically they'll find a way to continue

The UN does good things all the time:

World Health Organization (WHO): International public health.
UNESCO: Education, science, and culture.
ILO: International labor standards.
FAO: Food and agriculture.
World Bank Group & IMF: Finance and development.
UNICEF: Children's rights.
WFP: Food assistance.
UNHCR: Refugee protection.
UNDP: Development projects.

But like any large organization, it has bloat, inefficencies, and corruption. That's no reason to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
It's a good idea to have a forum where all countries can get together and work on problems.

“All will concede that in order to have good neighbors, we must also be good neighbors. That applies in every field of human endeavor.” President Harry Truman

The UN is a mess and has been for decades. It has too many dictatorships, too many countries that sell their votes because they don't care about most issues, too much corruption because corruption is a culture and way of life in most of the countries its senior employees come from.

Get rid of it. Junk it. Start a new body that only includes democracies. And real democracies, not the likes of Turkey

Sorry kid but none of those are good things. Those are all things that siphon off massive amounts of money and put them in the pockets of rich people and do next to nothing for the actual people who need help. Some out and out directly harm people

You could cut everyone of those projects and most of the people around the world would be better off rather than worse

You could count on one hand how many conflicts the UN stopped, or even controlled since its inception........with a positive outcome...There are over 130 active conflicts on the globe right now....which ones are the UN involved with...

Being a Canadian soldier with a few UN peacekeeping tours, I've seen first hand the UNs response to conflicts i seen first hand how unprepared they are to confront a determined enemy...like in Rwanda, former Yugoslavia, were they did nothing to stop war crimes, or intercede in combat....It is a failed institution with no teeth to enforce anything...and should keep to what it knows best which i don't even know what that is...

Don't you get tired of being wrong so often?

I'm so glad we bought you that mirror, you get so much use out of it :)

LOL this is how you sound every single time you realize you were wrong :)

That's majority of those programs provide little to no actual aid and siphon off the vast majority of the money into the pockets of the wealthy. Most of them wouldn't provide a positive benefit even if they did work which they don't

The world health organization does more harm than good, as we saw under covid.

The un has a horrible record for stopping wars, and if anything politicizes them and drags them out.

They don't really feed anyone.

etc etc.

Sorry kid, you're just wrong.
