Not a dumb question. As I recall this story from last year, when he replaced the existing guy, I had my doubts about how close he seemed to the CCP back then. It seemed to me they were replacing one pro-China activist with a guy who seemed, from what reports I recall, to be entirely too close to China himself.

The Liberals weren't any better. Carney refused to boot out their candidate, despite him telling people to 'arrest' his opponent and bring him to the Chinese consulate for a reward, until the guy finally resigned three weeks before the election.

The point and question was, if he is a foreign actor now that he has crossed the floor, was he not one last year when he was vetted and parachuted into a riding by the conservative party??

I have never said the liberals were any better. I have said though that floor crossing form all parties have occurred in Canadian parliament over 300 times. It is nothing unusual or new.

The outrage by some conservative.members (leader and former leaders) is quite hypocritical considering they willingly accepted liberals crossing to the conservatives in the past.

You cannot call the floor crossers traitors etc becasue as adults we regularly change our minds as we move on with our lives and beliefs

I( am not sure. Is it the stuff the Conservative party vetting missed??

If you know about them and can prove it.

We know who they are. CSIS knows who they are. They're not breaking any laws doing it right now.

OK then, if no laws are broken, it all becomes moot.

It just becomes political whining (from both sides)

Did you miss the part where this was 6 weeks ago - AFTER the election?  Or you just ignore the parts that don't fit your narrative?

He's clearly been taken over by the CCP.  Or was planted beforehand.

Your team can have him.  We're glad he's gone.

Only Liberals would celebrate a CCP compromised floor-crosser.

Does how long after the election mean anything?

He was selected by  the conservative party and parachuted into a riding by the conservative party and a sitting member of the conservative party.

Glad he is gone??  The cons worked so hard to get him and now glad he is gone??? That is the epitome of hypocritical LOL

Oh, so did the conservatives not celebrate when liberals crossed the floor to them??  Well over 20 left the liberals and joined the conservatives. The most famous is Paul Hellyer, the conservative defence minister that amalgamated the Army, Navy and Air Force and basically destroyed out Military.

Don't be so naive LOL

More like coping, but yeah.  "We didn't even want the candidate we pursued and parachuted into the riding under our banner.  We're *sob* sooo much better without him!"

Well, to start, Parliament voted almost 2 years ago to create a foreign agent registry, like other countries have, such as Australia.

Libs refuse to institute it...

"Canada is in the process of establishing a

Foreign Influence Transparency Registry (FITR) under recent legislation (Part 4 of Bill C-70), but it is not yet active, as the enabling Commissioner needs to be appointed and regulations finalized, meaning people aren't yet required to register as foreign agents, and the specifics of implementation (who registers, what's disclosed) are still being decided through regulations and consultations."

The law was passed June 2024, so where is it?

Only 4 pieces of legislation have been passed since the election.

All has been held up by conservative bickering and political show business.

Off topic and I am done with this discussion.

Cmon, the bill passed July 2024 not held up by the Conservatives.

The Liberal government are the delaying entity. I for one would like to know why.

In spite of the Liberal election promises to strengthen Canada's economy, their main focus seems to be (based on the bills they are prioritizing) censorship.

A foreign agent registry likely ranks far lower on their list of priorities than the economy.

I don't see any evidence that they have much interest in actually running Canada.

Based on the bills they've prioritized, their main focus seems to be............. shutting Canadians up.

OK, Here it is

To be hypocritical means acting in a way that contradicts your stated beliefs, morals, or feelings, essentially pretending to have virtues you lack or judging others for things you do yourself, like telling someone to be honest while you are lying. It's a form of hypocrisy where your actions don't match your words, often involving claiming high standards but failing to live up to them.

So, a hypocrite is the conservatives cheering when liberals cross the floor but whine and cry and demean a conservation that crosses a floor. LOL

Seriously LOSER...you could not figure that out all by yourself?? LOL

So ..... wouldn't that require him to cheer when a liberal crosses the floor?

And has one crossed recently that he cheered about?

LOLOLOL -  one of the funniest things about you is how often you provide your own proof that you're wrong, and not just wrong but usually stupidly so :)

I don't know how much of that is true, but Michael Ma doesn't have a FB account right now.

I don't know for sure if he had one before he betrayed his voters, but AFAIK all of the conservative MPs have FB accounts.

If it's true that a petition for him to resign has 30,000 voters, and they're all from that riding, it's a big deal because only 50,000 people voted for CPC and LPOC there during the last election.

Is it weird that between the CBC, CTV and the Libs , they almost all either 1) don't have FB accounts or 2) don't allow comments. Canadians can't discuss what they're saying.

Honestly, i don't think that particular floor crossing is going as well for the liberals as they thought.

It feels oily and scummy, far more so than the previous crossing where there was a history of dissent and unhappyness, although that still felt 'opportunistic'.   But this one looks like a complete scam and political shenannigans, and Canadians often react badly to that.

His explanation didn't help either - "I was 100 percent conservative the night before and had no idea i'd be crossing, but then i had a 20 minute conversation with the PM the next day and it completely changed my fundimental values and belief system so i had to cross".  Uh huh.   Was the conversation "what if i were to offer you...."?

They've got a lot of negative press about it, even though it's legal a lot of Canadians are concerned and not happy about the idea of obtaining a majority through shady means and scams and I think if anything it's actually hurt his brand more than it hurt Pierre.

The circumstances may very well impact anyone else thinking about floor crossing and may cause the liberals to think twice about being aggressive and trying to talk people into it. The fact is having a majority of one person is not actually all that great

No one talks about TNI, the "Trusted News Initiative", but it's the digital book-burning of the 21st century. AKA, Big Brother.

Twitter was part of it, THANK GOD FOR ELON MUSK, but it still has Google, FB and YouTube, plus BBC, AP, Reuters, NYT, WashPo, CBC, Euro Broadcast Union, etc.

They hide behind the disguise of "combatting disinformation", but TNI is Disinformation Incorporated.

TNI shut down talk of the BSL4 lab when Fauci was peddling his pangolin conspiracy theory.

TNI shut down talk of the Hunter laptop to get Biden elected.

TNI kicked the NYPost off of social media for telling the truth.

TNI is the group that tells all the lies that cultists like eyeball, ex-flyer, Beave, herbie, etc get sucked into regurgitating, and when we conservatives are shut down here, and no longer allowed to talk online anywhere, it will be TNI lackeys that manage the information blockade.
