They are purging the fat guys that aren't war fighters. 

It's a simple concept. If you own a business and you want your employees to come in early, you get there 30 minutes before them. If you want them to stay late, you stay 30 minutes longer than them. If you want them to dress nice, you wear a smart suite with a starched shirt. 

If you want your front line fighters to be fit, tough and motivated you have to be stronger, faster and better than them. A fat ass sitting behind a desk drinking coffee and eating doughnuts doesn't inspire greatness.

Just last night I was telling a discouraged friend that Trump doesn't have the COMPETENCE to pull off the dictator schtick, and right on cue, he demonstrates that with his incoherent speech in front of  hundreds of generals.

Peter Brian Hegseth served 2 deployments in the military. One in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He attained the rank of Major. He has 2 degrees. One from Princeton and one from Harvard.

Yet, indeed, Hegseth moved quickly to fire women and people of color and replace them with objectively less qualified white men. Because he himself is objectively and unquestionably unqualified for his position and has done nothing to merit the appointment aside from being white, male--and slobbering all over Trump on Fox news.

No, it's not a lie. It's fact. For example, he and Trump moved very quickly to replace the eminently qualified Black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs--a 4-star general- with (checks the record) a white, male, retired 3-star who literally didn't have the legally required pre-requisite qualifications for the job and required a presidential waiver. 

At the same time he was firing well-qualified women from top jobs and replacing them with white men. 

And none of it for performance reasons. None of it based on metrics. None of it based on merit. By Hegseth's own admission "more art than science." 

Finally, white men will no longer be oppressed in the military!🙄

 

He's actively racist and openly and overtly sexist. I'm sure that's going to be super inspiring leadership for the half of the military that isn't white and male.

This tangent started with statements about women operating drones.  I can remember decades ago when my US business partner's 4 boys (all digital ultra-geek gamers, and 3 today top level IT pros).  Our 2 daughters (both pianists and one today a arthroscopic surgery wiz) absolutely humiliated the boys in video games due to incredible hand-eye coordination and skills.  But: there is far more to being a soldier than just performing one task.  Flying a drone from a desk overseas might be safe, but if you are operating from a forward position you could be THE highest value target on any given battlefield.  When the other guys (and gals) show up at the door do you want the person you now must depend upon for your life to be there because some inclusive BS reason or because they have met and succeeded being at the highest level of physical and mental discipline needed to survive in face-to-face combat?

I will also respectfully suggest that the answer you will give sitting safely behind you computer screen at home will be very different from the one you would give when the rattle of AKs starts and the rounds are dropping those beside you in a bath of blood and guts.
