It's interesting to see leftist leaders pumping the hate brakes.

Whether this was just a chance for them to get on the soapbox to look good, or they're doing it to save their own skin, at least they're speaking like decent human beings right now, and for that we should all be thankful.

If the Cultist Narrative Network/Cultist Broadcasting Corporation gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

Nope, pumping the violence brakes. We will still call out the corruption and INJUSTICE of the Trump admin.

Be nice if some here could do the same.

Like you?

You spent the last day pushing lies to demonize the man after he was murdered.

No, it would have been nice if you didn't condone the incitement of violent attacks by prominent actors, singers, comedians and elected Democrat officials.

The time for the sentiment that you're echoing was back when Kathy Griffin was holding a severed-head effigy of the president, not "now that it's getting scary for democrat supporters".

In fairness to Colbert, it looks like he got some blowback from leftists over his rough treatment of Griffin.

That's why I've been slowly giving respect to Bill Maher. He started pumping the brakes way before this.

When have I done that? When have they done that?

Griffith deserved some rough treatment.

How far do you want to take this shit? What's the end game for you?

I pointed out that people joked about the attack on Paul Pelosi and only got deflection.

So this rule needs to apply to EVERYONE.

Even though he says he will never be a Republican, Maher is pretty even with his criticism. He doesn't hold back about what he sees as the Democrat's faults and they might do well to listen.

I don't want Maher to be a Republican. I want him to be a good Democrat. Maybe he can help turn that party around.

What Kathy griffin did wasn't a joke. There was nothing funny about it.

It was 0% humour, 100% political violence.

Similarly disgusting comments about killing the president or blowing up the WH by Depp, Madonna, etc were treated as fair commentary. When a man dressed up as Trump to be killed in the stage play "Hamilton", it was treated as art.

The leftists here were equally determined to downplay the serious and disgusting nature of those sentiments. None of you put Griffin on blast. Or Madonna, or Depp, or the actors and producers of Hamilton. Etc. It was all "Meh."

You reap what you sow, and this is exactly what you sowed.

What Griffin did wasn't funny and I was shocked at the time. I knew she pushed boundaries but didn't think she was that stupid. It got her fired as a co host at CNN's New Years coverage and Colbert blasted her when she was a guest.

People say what they say and need to be held accountable, on both sides.

Somebody got fired for making fun of the shooting.  Free speech ?
People call trans people by their birth gender and don't care.
People say f*** your feelings.

For sure some of it is online culture.  You wouldn't say it in real life.  And for sure unhinged people are triggered.

One thing I also think, and a lot don't agree: both sides like to shirk and deflect, play word games and point fingers...

I'm guilty too...

It is not "free speech" to maintain your employment for celebrating murder.

You mean, they call them by their actual gender?

But remember, you are not on a side here pushing anything in this culture war... yeah right.

1. What about for saying there are two genders ?  Or Israel is apartheid ?  Or mooning someone ?
2. Yes, by what you see as their gender but not what they see - regardless of your conception of facts.
3. I'm not, which is why I had to try to frame #2 objectively and not go down the path where you unilaterally declare that offending someone is ok based on facts...

What about anything? You can say that all you want to, and your employer is not obligated to keep you employed.

Truth is truth. Reality is reality. It has nothing to do with my "conception"

This is an objective fact proven by evidence.

You are, which is why you felt compelled to bring this up now, as well as in the past.

You are not framing it objectively when you sit here trying to claim it is a perception issue.

I can't control what others find offensive and if they find objective facts offensive, that is on them, not me.

Of course not, because you User are the ultimate arbiter of the truth. 🙂

No, science is. You don't want to talk about the objective facts, though, just try to steer the discussion to making it personal about me instead.
