Nobody said gravity batteries aren't being considered. What kind of Twat shows up to prove that people are wrong about something they never said?\ Talking about in this specific article does not appear to make sense or be accurate the way it's reported. A mine shaft makes more sense to me, so spending a poll above the ground High Enough with enough weight on it to matter sounds exceptionally difficult and expensive. digging a hole sounds easier Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Nationalist Posted July 26, 2025 Report Posted July 26, 2025 (edited) So I saw my name invoked earlier claiming I know nothing about wave machines...or something to that effect. So... @robosmith...here's the big problem with both. Gravity Tower: Can only store enough power to run a small village for a short period of time. Plus, there is still the complications of undesirable fields of windmills and mirrors that use too much agricultural land and require constant maintenance. And...it is useless once the energy is spent and there's no sunshine or wind. This this solution is unreliable. Wave Generator: The one you've cited can only generate enough power for a few hundred homes. Again...very little bang for the buck. To be reasonable, we have to cover our shores with these things and still there wouldn't be enough power. Conclusion: Good intentions to not produce realistic results. They produce high school science fair exhibits. Thus robo...this is the worth of your engineering degree...which you claim to have...a couple of high school science fair projects that are unreliable in on case and unreasonable in the other. You display all the engineering savy of a "land redistribution engineer". You...your pick...and your shovel. Edited July 26, 2025 by Nationalist Quote Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.

That is this entire thread in a nutshell. These are interesting experiments and worth toying with. The concepts may one day lead to a genuine model of energy storage that works. And that is what we are missing. It would be relatively easy to power most of the world with solar energy if we could store it as efficiently as we store chemical energy in the form of oil and gas. About 30 lb of gas contained in an approximately a 5 lb container contains enough energy for my car to drive about 700 km. And can be replenished in a few minutes. To go about 650 km a Tesla requires a battery weighing 1500 lb that will take Hours to recharge from flat to full. When we create a 30 lb battery that can hold enough electricity to drive 700 km that can be recharged in a matter of minutes the world will change. That is the big holdback right now Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

It's all unreliable. What part of that dont you get? In our current world, we chew through energy at a phenomenal rate. We must have readily available replenishment "on tap"...if you will...on a scale that none of the current "solutions" can offer. But... If you take all your high school science projects and continue to work on them and improve their "usability", maybe some of the tech will become so. Personally, I think we need to expand our research to include gravity...not with tons of cement, but as a method of transportation...and as Tesla showed...the very air we breath. Until then though...we the people would ask that you stop trying to scare the b'jeebers out of us over something that is not really a big problem at present. And the fact that there's climate change doesn't make it an emergency. Nor does it mean that suddenly we should start believing that technology that's not mature or effective is the right way to go You're making chicken little look like a common rational person 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me...
