CdnFox Posted June 27, 2025 Report Posted June 27, 2025 Around half of young people in Quebec support sovereignty: poll Looks like we're gonna be going to a new referendum. if the PQ win. And right when we've got a prime minister who really doesn't speak French. 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
Moonlight Graham Posted June 28, 2025 Report Posted June 28, 2025 (edited) Their parents made them grow up in schools that didn't fly the Canadian flag and didn't sing the Canadian National Anthem. They celebrate La fête nationale du Québec in late June more than they celebrate Canada Day a week later. They're also too young to remember the economic sh*t-kicking Quebec got after the last referendum when businesses started leaving Quebec, both Canadian and America. Montreal was once a world-class city They might need to remove the monarchy to save Canada at this point. Moonlight Graham Posted June 28, 2025 Report Posted June 28, 2025 "Just under half of young people aged 18 to 34 in Quebec support the idea of provincial independence, marking a near-20 per cent increase over the past year, according to a new poll by Léger." WTF. A lot of younger people really don't like the liberals or Carney right now And I doubt that Quebec is much of an exception. Separatist sent him it is growing across the country, when it becomes obvious that carney cannot deliver on his promises and people still cannot afford rent or food and we still have problems with too much migration and housing shortages and we're still not competitive with other countries and the US is still tariffing us then it's going to get worse Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Army Guy Posted June 30, 2025 Report Posted June 30, 2025 Once Quebec separates, what do you think the ROC will do,it will start carving up the rest of the country....we will hand trump everything he has ever wanted....no way individual provinces could stand on their own....and it all will be free or cost us everything....like pensions, OAS, CPP, all will vanish...it will be messy....and lots of people will lose everything.... Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Your provinces are quite capable of standing on their own, especially if there's a loose economic union much like we see in Europe. I could definitely see the western provinces forming such an alliance with an agreement to have a shared economy and the ability to cross borders to work and such while still maintaining autonomy. British Columbia with its ports, thriving tech and movie businesses, lumber etc, Alberta with its oil and other resources, Saskatchewan with its potash and other resources, and even little Manitoba rounds things out as the three prairie provinces would represent most of Canada's food production. That's a pretty significant leverage. I would vastly prefer to live in that kind of a circumstance then I do currently. A lot of westerners do, especially westerners who are second or third generation because they remember what it was like when their parents and grandparents had to suffer so that the east could rape the west in order to buy votes In Quebec and in Ontario Quote "That which doesn't kill me... No. As much as you hate Canada and would like to see it break up, this ain't gonna' happen. What's the percentage for the rest of the Quebec electorate? You suck at extrapolation. Quote

Quebec would have a rough go of it, largely because they would trip over their own feet. The Atlantics would not be able to survive on their own that's true. Ontario could and the western provinces could There's more than enough wealth to support Canadians in their old age especially in the west. You have to remember that Currently almost all of the western provinces contribute far more than they take in income taxes, subsidizing old age care would be a piece of cake if we weren't paying to fund many of the easts programs. And you also have to remember we would have a tiny percentage of the debt. Assuming that the debt was divvied up based on population more than half of it current federal debt would remain with Ontario and Quebec. Western provinces would barely have 30 to 40% of the debt and would be in position to pay it off much easier and with the exception of BC we're provinces generally are less burdened by debt as well. Things would be tough in the east. Ontario would have a rough go because a lot of its activity is subsidized by western Exploitation that would no longer be there. But they hobble along. Quebec would be in real Trouble In The Atlantics would be stuck. None of which would be the west's problem anymore. Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
