If a Prime Minister to be has a millions of dollars invested in a place like China, and it is now put in a so-called blind trust, are you saying it is "moot" or has no bearing on his job as a PM? What if he becomes PM and has to make governing decisions that could affect his investments in some particular country? "When a prime minister puts investments in a trust, it means they have to divest controlled assets by selling them or putting them into a blind trust within 120 days of taking office14. The blind trust is managed by a trustee who does not own the prime minister's assets but has the legal authority to manage and sell them3. However, some argue that a blind trust is a sham facade that does not prevent financial conflicts of interest5. How can it not be a conflict of interest if the investments are still invested in the same places they were before he put them in a so-called blind trust? If the investments are now managed by a trustee, where does it say anywhere that the investments are moved to some other country or some other type of investment? A blind trust appears to mean only that the trustee has the authority or manage and sell them. However, it does not say that the investments are moved somewhere else. Just FYI, he can continue to harm the continue economy (like he has with his anti-energy policies) to aid his conflicting investments while his investments are held in trust. 1 Quote If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed. herbie Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 Oh so you're worried he's going to make political decisions that make stocks crash so he can buy them cheap and then reverse decisions so they'll soar and he and his buddies make billions? I thought you liked people like that. Maybe he'll cancel the F35s and buy J20s from China so they don't serve him as Sweet&Sour Long Pork. Quote

Same with heat pumps. Which is the same thing he did in Europe according to him, get government to set policy that favors things he's already invested in and then make a fortune whether it works for the country or not Jesus Herbie, this is the kind of rich industrialist capitalist who doesn't pay his taxes and scams the system to hurt the little guy that you and the NDP supposedly hate the hell out of. And here you are supporting him 1 Quote

To be fair, I don't think the Liberals would just give a contract to Brookfield. They would likely first pay millions to a two-person hiring firm run in a someone's basement to sub-contract the work out to Brookfield. Quote
