His point is that the IRS is using software that is 50+ years old. Ok. I believe that. What is weird is that the top brass at tje IRS are pissed off about that. Why? You would think they would want a more modern system that allows them to spend more time investigating tax fraud rather than hand typing MSDOS like code just to send a letter. However, this is a byproduct of DOGE. People finally feel like they can be heard. So they bring forward ideas that will help save money. I think DOGE is a stupid hammer, but if it sheds light on complex issues like procurement, depreciation and efficiency then it could be worth ... something. I do believe people will die though. Most likely the old software is not day to day processing but the more clerical stuff. We just recently (last year) replaced the software package used by one dept. It was created in 1973. Quote
