Free speech or acts of terrorism? Pro Hamas group targets Jewish owned Indigo bookstore with anti-jewish rhetoric

Trespassing, criminal but they won't be charged if they vacate.

Taking over a business, didn't happen.

Targeting a Jewish business, anti-Semitic.

Targeting an organization that supports the IDF, anti-Israel.

Making threats is illegal, but I didn't see that mentioned in the article and no one was arrested so I'll assume that's a mistake.

Pretty easy exercise, now let's turn off the taps of outrage and just be Canadian again hm?

Noah Shack, the interim president of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said the protests “threatened Indigo staff and negatively impacted customers simply wanting to enjoy their day.”

No mention of making threatening comments though. You have to understand that these corporate types choose their words carefully .

Based on that line, it sounds like staff were threatened.

Taking over a mall, didn't happen.

According to the story they went into a private business (because it's owned by Jewish people) and chanted slogans, and appear to have caused enough of a disturbance to cause the journalist to write an article about it.

Don't know why we must tolerate a person's business being targeted because they happen to be of some religious or ethnic background that the other group despises.

Nothing Canadian about apparently creating chaos in someone's business because of their ethnicity or religion.

So why were they removed?

At the heart of the matter is whether or not your business should be the target of harassment, intimidation and bullying over their religion or ethnicity.

You don't.

I explicitly addressed that individual case in my first response.

Trespassing and causing a disturbance I expect.  They had no right to be in there.

So... what exactly is your quibble with the use of take over here then?

They took over a space. In a business. They had to leave.

Seems like I went through the angles and came down on both sides, all told.

Do you have a specific point, or do you just need attention from me?

This is all accurate.  Being annoying at a mall in front of a store whose owner supports Israel also isn't terrorism.

Hopefully they enjoyed some of Heather's Picks before they got kicked out of the mall.

Taking over a business and making threatening comments.

Free speech or criminal act?

Well to be honest I didn't read the article but based on your description of them taking over a business that right there moves Beyond free speech
