Canadian MPs need to learn to speak up for themselves. Previous PMs have also overstayed their welcome - power is difficult to relinquish - but rarely as badly as this. In Britain, Australia or Ireland, Trudeau would be gone by now.

I think you underestimate the depth of his sense of entitlement. This is how liberals think. It's liberal elite even more so.

He's going to be rich after this but then he'll have to spend his own money if he wants $1,000 to play dinners while he's flying somewhere. That's not okay. If he sticks it out he gets one more summer of traveling all over the world at the taxpayers expense eating the best food, staying in the best places, and trying to make contacts to make money when he gets done with politics. That multi-million dollar pension just isn't going to be enough you know

He's already passed a law to extend the election date so th at more of his people can g;et pensions so who knows

That's probably more true than you think. He is always desperately looking for some social justice sort of subject to Sidetrack the election with.

He did a lot of damage to share on the abortion issue, and mulled Erin on the gun issue. I think he's hoping something similar will come up that he can use against Poilievre.

Unfortunately for him, he's so far behind in the polls this time and he is so hated by Canadians that he will basically have to hope that Poilievre  runs on a campaign slogan of "Nuke the gay unborn immigrant trans whales for Jesus" to get people worked up enough for that to work.

I just don't know how you can have a scrap of decency and not quit at this point

The maximum term a party in Canada can serve, has never changed. It is 5 years.

Anything's possible but I doubt it. I absolutely guarantee that the NDP won't vote for it until the end of February and Jaggers has his pension. It's possible he may decide to step down but I have doubts about that too.

The right thing for him to do normally would be to step down now and then parliament to give time for a new leadership race to guarantee the opposition didn't call a no confidence vote before they picked a new leader. Except for the fact that We've got a trade war scheduled to start january 20th.

I think he'll argue something about not changing canoes midstream and try and stick it out.
