The Ukraine had never formally applied to join NATO, so what does that have to do with Russia invading them in 2014 to annex the Crimea, support separatist rebels in the Donbass from 2014-22, or launch a full scale invasion in 2022.

You're correct in saying that Latvia and Estonia already have NATO there, but we went there in the '90s when Russia was a failed state and couldn't do anything about it. But even then, Ukraine was a bridge waaaayyyy too far, and it still is. 

Ukraine played f around and find out, and now there are so many of them dead, and so many of their cities have been destroyed, that they can't help but know. 

You can play stupid all you want, but the people who matter know what's up. They just have you as brainwashed as any AOC supporter. And believe me, it's mainly AOC/Kamala supporters who support this war, not Trump supporters.
