It's a newspaper.

Their job is to report the news, not make it up or give opinions as fact.

Who gives a 💩 what some random WaPo editor thinks about any candidate?  Report the damn news.

Anything's possible. While it appears that trump has the best advantage it could still go either way. I doubt they're not worried about a backlash from trump over an endorsement. If anything the backlash would probably sell more papers.
