At the end of the day the body responsible for punishing him for his crimes is the Canadian voter. Canadians knew what he did and yet they voted him in again anyway. That is largely because the east has such a high tolerance for corruption. He should have been out on his ass but liberal and NDP supporters don't care about Canada or their job as voters, they simply vote tribal.

At least until things get so bad that they can't possibly continue to live like this. Which is where we are now.

The biggest problem with democracy is the voters. If they are unwilling to do their job, or they treat politics the way they treat their home town hockey club then the bad guys will always go unpunished.

The PC government got corrupt, it was utterly destroyed and wiped out. The liberals got corrupt and voters back east gave them another term

SO no real consequences....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

It's not surprising there was much if anything in the way of consequences when there's little in the way of laws capable of doing anything to prevent or catch politicians when they break laws this way.

Whistle-blowers are all we have.

An x on a ballot is way to late and after the fact to be of much use to anyone - the damage is long since done.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

True. He was made to look a fool in the public eye but seeing as enough of the public turns a blind eye I guess it didn't matter

The police did investigate but of course with parliamentary privilege nobody can be compelled to give testimony or turnover documents. That pretty much ends any chance of a criminal investigation going anywhere

There were plenty of laws. That wasn't the problem.
