I am Groot Posted August 15, 2024 Report Posted August 15, 2024 Medical schools claim they're training doctors as fast as they can, but what they won't point out is half their students are foreigners sponsored by their governments, most of them oil rich, who are contractually required to go back home after their training is over. Meanwhile, many hundreds of Canadian applicants are turned down despite meeting the requirements to train as doctors. https://dominionreview.ca/feds-allow-medical-schools-to-train-foreign-doctors-while-canadian-doctors-are-turned-away/ Quote "A civilization is not destroyed by wicked men; it is destroyed by weak men who cannot defend what is good.” — G. myata Posted August 15, 2024 Report Posted August 15, 2024 Incredible and outrageous. Maybe the school management and associations too could relocate right there too asap, and the entire throttling system remade from scratch? Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
myata Posted August 15, 2024 Report Posted August 15, 2024 This is quite an absurd, grotesque situation: Canada trains doctors for rich third world countries, while importing them from the poorer ones for herself (ostensibly with some qualifications, but who can be sure, in the poorer part of the third world?) Is it objective enough picture? In what universe does it make any rational sense? The incentives; objectives, the management structure, funding arrangements: it all seems to be wrong, upside down. And this why we are seeing these grotesque episodes. The primary objective and incentives for management of Canadian universities is now to make dough; training specialists for the country comes second. But schools are not private businesses, their managers aren't CEOs. Canadian problems with transparent and effective management of public functions and institutes go very deep indeed. 1 Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

I'm as anti Trudeau as the next guy but this has been going on for years. And the provinces are just as guilty. They could forbid this or cut down on the numbers and they won't. 1 Quote "A civilization is not destroyed by wicked men; it is destroyed by weak men who cannot defend what is good.” — G. K. We have a severe shortage here. Does the government really know what it is doing? Wonder if the medical associations control the number of doctors trained. That is something we don't hear anything about. Quote
