Yet they are called the same thing because they are the same continent of which that same continent has a North, South and Central all called America of which there is no continental drift occurring between them because it is the same continent. Yet apparently 3 billion years ago all land masses aside from scattered archipelagos were submerged but that doesn't detract from the fact that the entire continent of America (North, South and Central) is not submerged! At one time apparently all continents made up Pangea but that doesn't detract from the fact that America has a Northern Part, a Southern Part and a Central part of the same land mass called a continent named America. The country is named after an entire continent of which one has to wonder is this because USA citizens are too ashamed of their own country to name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

Oh and does the USA call itself the United States of North America? No, they name themselves after the entire continent thus acknowledging it all (North, South and Central) as an entire continent instead of naming themselves after their own country and one has to wonder is this because they are too ashamed of their own country to name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

I recommend once again you re name the USA Igoria and call your citizens Igorians or think of something else suitable unless of course you are perhaps way too ashamed of your own country to name yourselves after your country instead of an entire continent..

I suggest you stop living in the past.

Perhaps you should find a local Indian tribe and ask to join it. Something tells me you'd fit right in.

I live in the present and USA citizens are currently naming themselves after an entire continent instead of their own country which poses the question is this because they are too ashamed of their own country to name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

those who to become the "Canadians" called themselves Americans too, until the War of 1812

It makes sense before a country forms upon a continent to name yourselves after the continent upon which I suspect it wasn't 1812 that Canadians started calling themselves Canadians, it was July 1st 1867 on Canada's birthday. But USA citizens did not which brings us back to the question, is this because USA citizens are way too ashamed of their own country to name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

You live in a state of boredom.

There's no shame in saying I'm American. I suspect we refer to ourselves as American because we are the most prominent and powerful of the 3 Americas, so we don't bother with restricting ourselves to just North America. I, for one, take pride in that. I am an American and proud to be one.

Another thing I'm going to be pushing for is to dump that ridiculous "white non-hispanic" bullshit on applications. ;)

So what are you?

No. Why on earth would it have anything to do with them being ashamed? They already have a name that everyone referred to them by. Why not keep it? Also Ustations just sounds stupid. That doesn't make them ashamed of the country, though. They have a name that works and sounds nice. Why would they change it now? It would be kind of like Prince. You'd be talking about Ustations and someone would say, "The hell you on about?" And you'd have to say "the people formerly known as Americans."

Because instead of naming themselves after their own country, they name themselves after an entire continent hence the question.

The answer is nope.

See, "United Statesian" sounds stupid, so we just go with "American". It's easier, and everyone has gotten used to it.

Now, here's a question for you: Why do people like you ask such stupid questions?

I gave him the history of the term. He doesn't care. He just has this childish need to dig at Americans and his little brain thinks he has something. It's sad really.

But they didn't name themselves after it. They were named that by others, and they saw no reason to change it. Especially when it has a better ring to it than United Statesian. Also the country is the United States of America. The states themselves are individual divisions that are not the entire nation. They unite to become America. So the entire country is named after America, which is actually not a continent. North America is a continent. South America is a continent.

Political Smash is a really good name for you. One only has to discuss politics with you about five minutes before wanting to smash their head against a brick wall.

What did I ask that is so stupid, all you can say is nope without any valid justification, instead you go on about naming yourselves after an entire continent.

Your so called history doesn't detract from the fact that USA citizens name themselves after an entire continent instead of your own country, is this because you are too ashamed of your own country to name yourselves after your own country instead of an entire continent.

They still do name themselves after the continent to this very day hence the term "Americans"

Why don't find someone literate to help you with the rest of my response?

Attempting to try and make something else the issue you call answering a question. Lame, perhaps that is because you are too ashamed of your own country?

Because your response doesn't justify that USA citizens call themselves Americans after a continent instead of naming themselves after their own country which raises the question, is this because USA citizens are too ashamed of their own country no name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

I already gave you my reasons, and I think someone else gave you a more official reason, so why are you still stamping your feet like a b*tch?

It's obvious, USA citizens are still naming themselves after an entire continent instead of their own country which leads to the question, are USA citizens too ashamed of their own country to name themselves after their own country instead of an entire continent?

I don't bet my ass, unlike you Loosie. You are a USA citizen and call yourself an American, is that because you are too ashamed of your own country to name yourself after your own country instead of an entire continent? I am a Canadian living on the America continent and we are called Canadians because we acknowledge ourselves after our country.

I've been fighting woke garbage since long before they even coined the phrase, Like 23 years there Sonny Bunch.

When someone says he's an American, what's the first place you picture him living in?

EXACTLY!

So why are you stamping your feet like a woke b*tch? Woke b*tches get hung up on shit like this.

I am going to say this and defeat my own proposition... but this thread is like one of those mass company emails that is sent out and then some goofball responds to all, then another responds to all, then you get someone responding all to say stop responding all... then someone still responds all to that... and it goes on all day long until someone high up the chain finally says no more responses enough.

Just let this stupid thread die!
