And I'd say they're nowhere similar and not at all lazy.
Campbell was handed a job doomed by Mulroney and lacked any popularity, Harris a job against a pervert criminal jeopardized but not doomed by her predecessor. And has charisma and people skills far beyond Campbell who came off as a nagging fishwife.

This is where her and Kamala are identical.

Kamala hasn't had to earn her current spot.

Biden has spared her the initial debate, and she may not face much pressure, where she will shine.

What do you mean? 4 years Vice President isn't enough 'qualifications' for you? Her entire career history counts for nothing? The support of so many delegates already makes a leadership contest moot, yet it will still happen.
F'off she didn't earn it. Most Trumpian argument ever.

WTH did Kim Campbell do? Besides beat Hedy Fry... once.

I was eluding to her being hired as a vice president. She made the most sense, as gave Biden the black vote, women and made him look more progressive and diverse.

She was an insanely predictable vote, but not the most qualified on paper or in policy.

IE a diversity vote.

She has been called out for her track record as a prosecutor, and may turn away voters if her detractors are successful at fully exposing it, nationally.

OMG I can't believe YOU are pulling out that card.

It's politics, it only means she was the best political choice not that she wasn't qualified. She had to meet the qualification not have the most. Otherwise you think he should've picked Bernie? TWO old white farts in office?

Look at it this way, I once had to choose between 2 potential employees, one a superbly qualified miserable grotesque older woman who was 6 months pregnant who had a standing biatch face or a 20 something that could do the job and was smiley eye candy that brought people into the store that smiled back while they paid their overdue notices.
Which one do you think I hired? Was it the right choice in your books?

you know that a law degrees just makes them more damn elitists in the eyes of the proletariat that won't admit they're proletarians. It's 2024 have some Brawndo.

Well... what do our lawmakers do with their time.... let's see... they pass.... ummmm... what is it now ?

What does it mean to be 'called out' ?  Is that game over ?  Has JD been 'called out'?

I dunno, but I won't be voting for ones that don't have law degrees and want to pass Crime Bills every 24 hours that aren't constitutional for their entire term.  Or leaders that think the notwithstanding clause is something you just snap your fingers and invoke if you don't get your own way.

To the subject though - Kim had far less credentials in her bag than Kamala does. For a far less important job to boot. On top of a fate that was utterly predetermined ....

The women I knew in my field worked their asses off to make it in what had been an almost totally male profession.

You had women out working in your field?!?!?  Couldn't you give them a job inside, like cooking or cleaning or the like? You're so mean.

Herbie,

I'll put you down as an American voter who hates Trump. As Carville says, you vote Democrat.

It is hard to be a politician. It requires ambition, talent, energy. I reckon that Kim Campbell had the ambition - even the talent but she was lazy.

Harris? She has the ambition. That's all.

I suspect that Biden is looking at the situation as Nixon once did.

Oh FFS I live in BC and cheer on the Dems as Trump is the most loathesome, ignorant hateful lying boor ever elected President. Plus he's #1 enemy of Canada with the policies he enacted and proposes. That one would even consider voting for a convicted criminal, pervert and known fraud, up to his nostrils in his own shit is beyond all comprehension.
And I contest that Kim Campbell was lazy. She was doomed from Day One by the blowback from Mulroney's GST and in Atlantic Canada for the cod closure. Didn't stand a chance, and it showed in the end. The entire country breathed an audible sigh of relief after 8 years of Tory rule.
Harris polls much better against Trump than Biden, but FFS in reality one of Caligula's appointed horses should out poll a convicted criminal.

As people will say of Kamala Harris.

Herbie, read Crosbie's book, No Holds Barred.

Post CNN-Interview.

She's lazy.

In the early 1990s, after Meech, the Tories chose Campbell in a desperate measure.

In the early 2020s, after Biden, the Democrats chose Harris.

At first, it looked good. The poll numbers were positive

At that point, the Mulrooney government was so unpopular any successor was going to get creamed. Just like JT today.

Campbell did alot also... Lawyer, Grad School...

Went to high school with her. Smart, very popular, excelled at everything she did, first female class president in the schools 50 year history. Anything but an elitist. Though maybe not a real politician.

She's utterly classless. Maybe she was different when you knew her or something but she definitely was a tasteless inept woman with no morals or decency by the time she took over the Pc party. And voters tweaked on that and they decided to wiper the hell out and they did.

Ambitious.

I knew people like her too.

Well, both Kim and Kamala were bright stars that burned out quickly.

Another thing they had in common was the sexism heaped on them. Kim was called unreliable and unstable because she was twice-divorced and had no children. Kamala was pilloried for a relationship, even though it was between two consenting, unattached adults.

Maybe Kamala had it worst, as the object of Trump's misogynism. "Dummy" "Low IQ" "Retarded" "Stupid"

That is the only way Trump can deal with an attractive woman who challenges him.
