Little known fact but the writer and director of that show deliberately wrote it as a feminist empowerment project.

When you think about it, the only people who have real power in the wizard of oz are women. Auntie em controls the farm and the man. Dorothy is the only protagonist that can actually do anything. The wicked witch and the good witch are the only ones with powers that can actually affect the world. Even the wizard of oz himself is shown to be powerless and merely survives on mental tricks.

He very deliberately wanted it to be about women and women empowerment at a time when that subject was verboten and the fact that they're fighting over shoes is absolutely not coincidental 😁😁
