Wow. The leftwing MSM isn't even trying to hide their searing hatred (and envy) of the wildly successful FNC. The nerve of CNN's Jack Cafferty referring to the FNC as the "f-word channel" (fascist?) on the air. To the best of my recollection, I have never ever seen Cafferty read a pro-Bush email on the air. And CNN wasn't banned in Canada for 5 years unless they came up with something called CNN Canada--like the restrictions the Liberal Party-controlled CRTC forced on the FNC.

Oh my. Cheney chose the "safe haven" of an interview with Brit Humes (a very respected Washington reporter) on the Fox News Channel. How will the Republic survive?

Reminds me of when CBC's Peter Mansbridge mentioned the FNC three times on the day that the CRTC lifted its 5 year ban of the FNC...

I guess I missed the uproar from the MSM when Clinton chose CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC, for safe interviews.

And polls show that the public thinks the MSM is overreacting to the Cheney story. Once again the MSM shows that they are out of touch with the public.

I love watching the MSM and the Democrats melting down.

Sweeeeet! :D

P.S. When will Howard "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for" Dean grow a set and accept Fox News' challenge to appear on their network?

Ditto for that drunken manslaughterer Ted Kennedy...

Gutless cowards.

Fox News is kicking ass. They regularly exceed all the other networks' ratings, and all CNN etc. can do is call names. They really are out of touch, instead of moderating their leftwing approach so as to improve their ratings they instead get their knickers in a twist. Typical.

The contempt for FNC has more to do with te fact that it is the mouthpiece for the Republican Party. It always amazes me how many ranking Republicans get the sit down to espouse policy on FNC, what other Network gets that? Its not the 'news' portion that gets most, its the commentary.

Oh my. Cheney chose the "safe haven" of an interview with Brit Humes (a very respected Washington reporter) on the Fox News Channel. How will the Republic survive?

Cheney was a pussy for going on FNC to disclose that it was he who pulled the trigger, as has been pointed out before, there was never any doubt that he pulled th trigger (how stupid he must think we are!) but the fact that its okay too speak with the Police when he feels like it etc... The worst thing Hume would say was that Cheney was swell and he smells of roses... please...

Another great observation Monty!

It's amazing how petty the MSM can be when they feel they've been wronged. You're right, Brit Hume is a very well respected journalist who has worked in the MSM for years, previously with ABC News.

It's also possible that Cheney chose Fox News because he wanted the interview to be seen, unlike the 5 viewers on CNN and the 3 viewers on MSNBC. Although I do like watching MSNBC at times, Hardball can be a decent show, and I like tuning into Imus from time to time.

And you're soooooo right about the double standard. It's ok for Dems to go on programs like Larry King and get lobbed softball after softball, to the point of resembling verbal fellatio.

P.S. When will Howard "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for" Dean grow a set and accept Fox News' challenge to appear on their network?
Or Hillary Clinton.

You mean the FNC actually allows the Bush administration to defend themselves--something the liberal media rarely - if ever - allows.

I watched Brit Hume interview Cheney. Care to give some examples of where Hume said that Cheney was "swell and he smells of roses"?

Anxiously awaiting your reply.... :)

Fox News Channel was never "Banned" This is a lie.

You are a liar. The FNC was banned for 5 years because they didn't want to adjust their programming to include 35% Canadian content--just like the 35% Canadian content that the Liberal Party-controlled CRTC enforced on CNN. Oh wait. CNN had no such restrictions put on it.

Too bad Canada doesn't have the equivalent.

Not an equivalent, but you can get the FNC in Canada--now that the Liberal Party-controlled CRTC lifted its 5 year ban--after extreme pressure because they allowed Jihad TV (Al Jazeera) 5 months earlier.

However, you will likely have to buy a digital box and pay extra for the channel. It's on channel 142 on my (Shaw) TV. CNN is on channel 18, basic cable.

The FNC is a welcome breath of fresh air. They actually have conservatives on the FNC; indeed, although there are many liberals on the FNC, there are even more conservatives. The FNC even allows the Bush administration to give their viewpoint without the hosts smirking and rolling their eyes. Their panels (Brit Humes's show) actually have 2 liberals and 2 conservatives, and Hannity & Colmes is 1 conservative and 1 liberal. :o

That's "unfair" according to the left. Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy have been offered open invitations to appear on the FNC and both cowards have refused.

And I love it when Fox goes to a live newsfeed. They show a little American flag waving in the top corner on their live reports. Drives the American-hating left insane with rage. :)

This is the same type of trash that African-American conervatives face on a regular basis. Why don't you just come out and say it, we're the Canadian equivalent of an Uncle Tom. By golly, we just ain't know who's is gonna treat us betta huh?

First, with millions of dollars in newscaster contracts, hundreds of support staff, bureaus around the world extremely valuable channel space on cable systems across the globe, and a multi-billion dollar corporate parent, it is utterly delusional to think that Fox is not part of the "MSM". It is as "MS" as CNN, NBC and the rest.

Like many things from the hard right, this hyperventilation over the supposed "softball" interview with Cheney is all manufactured outrage. No one is saying that Brit Hume didn't do a good job and didn't ask good questions. No one called it a softball and no one compared it to the likes of a Larry King interview.

I'd like to know what's behind the outbreak of MSU (Making Shit Up) among right-wingers. I mean, the imagination of these people is something else. The "left-wing media", Iraqi WMD, imaginary presidential powers: the list of bogeymen that exists soley in the minds of GOP cultists goes on.

Don't forget about the persistent links between 9/11 and Saddam -- 70% of FOX viewers believe Saddam played a part in 9/11. Now, where could they have gotten that idea? I guess facts don't matter when you've got FOX. :P

Talk radio is almost 100% right wing, but I listen on occasion and last week actually heard a caller rant about Hillary Clinton, about how she's against the war, how she's tearing down our soldiers, etc. The host didn't even bother to correct the caller's total mischaracterization: Hillary has been one of the most blindly pro-war Senators on the Hill. I think it's totally fair for anyone to question Hillary's political motivations at being so out in front on her support of the war, but to say that she is against the war when all she has ever done is support the White House's Iraq policy is a bold-faced lie.

So why would Cheney NOT give equal face time with the other news networks? Why just Fox?

Because he looooooves it.

"It's easy to complain about the press -- I've been doing it for a good part of my career," Cheney said. "It's part of what goes with a free society. What I do is try to focus upon those elements of the press that I think do an effective job and try to be accurate in their portrayal of events. For example, I end up spending a lot of time watching Fox News, because they're more accurate in my experience, in those events that I'm personally involved in, than many of the other outlets."

Accurate. Riight.

EDIT:

I gotta add "FOX News was banned!" to my list of right-wing fictions that refuse to die.
