The president of McGill University says officials have called for police assistance after pro-Palestinian protesters refused to dismantle their encampment on the university's downtown Montreal campus.

In a statement sent to McGill staff and students Tuesday, McGill University president Deep Saini said the university is resorting to the police after officials "failed to reach a resolution" with protesters Monday.

"Encampments on campus property are outside of protected parameters, especially when they're presented as indefinite in term, and when many participants are not members of our university community," the statement reads.

Sorry McGill - no emergency act for you :)

Naaah - just go to the PM and tell them that they have bouncy castles.  The PM will have them swatted tomorrow.

Sodom may be a vision of the future in fact of what will happen but God does not need to blow us up with atomic bombs humans can do it themselves. When there are too many unjust people there is a purge by fire and the earth regenerates. Jesus said that every tree that his Father does not plant will be uprooted and God did not plant the Jewish, Muslim or Christian religion as it is. The student demonstrations for a ceasefire in Gaza prove that there are still righteous people and that the works of the unjust who govern us are in fact the works of a small group of demons who got themselves elected by deception population.

All protestors breaking laws and refuse to stop should be arrested, whether convoy honkers or campus trespassers.

Do you think that you're not supporting genocide Gaetan?

Are you honesty oblivious to the fact that Iran, the PLO, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc are all dedicated to genocide? They live and breath it, and have done so for generations.

You're the poster boy for support of genocide and you don't even know it.

TBH, the campus is private property. if the university wants those people removed, the police need to remove them.

The 'right to protest' has gotten way out of control and has been stretched far beyond it's original meaning.  Now it means you have the right to occupy personal property, the right to use physical force and threat to block people's free movement, the right to damage and disrupt lawful activities of people not related to your protest.

There needs to be new laws limiting that. Harper tried, hopefully poilevre will step up and put limitis in.

The universities are not private properties but public properties, everybody can go there, this is not like your home.

Just because it's a public area doesn't mean that everyone has as much right to be there as students and staff. FYI there's always someone with the authority to decide who can and can't access areas like that.

Even outdoor public parks are sometimes subjected to such authority, like a park where there's league baseball being played, or there's a permitted event. If the people in charge tell you to leave, the cops can remove you if you don't comply.

The university can definitely have people removed from their grounds for their own reasons.

I travel to Canada for work about once a year, but I am not familiar with the day to day politics there, but I do find it amazing how the Police can go out of their way to arrest that Rebel News Journalist every other week for merely existing... and it sure seemed like they used the heavy hand of the law during COVID to destroy peoples lives that did not comply or the Truckers protest... but they can't find that these protestors are breaking any laws?

You can still be trespassed if on public property.

Especially so, if breaking the law on that said property.

Precisely what they are doing.

That should be a cartoon, with "Trudeau Government" being branded on the horse's thigh and "tax payer" being bent over.

"Anyone but Liberals or NDP, being the other officer, who isn't fully pulling you away, but easing the angle of entry, so that you can walk and sit down later.

The spoiled, pampered children of the elites LARPing as revolutionaries on behalf of extremists who would stand them against a wall if they ever came to power.

It j just shows the poor overall quality of education in Canada and the degree of decadence and corruption in our education system. It also demonstrates how meaningless a lot of young people see their lives that they become so attracted to these kinds of performative demonstrations of virtue.

That's because the teachers are some of the worst elites LARPing as revolutionaries on behalf of extremists who would stand them against a wall if they ever came to power.

Watching some of these people being arrested it's clear the great majority are young women - demonstrating on behalf of a group that likes to rape, torture, and murder young women...

Well we did post all those studies showing more than half of young left leaning women have mental health issues.

Public universities cannot make money with the genocide of Gazans, the students do the right things. Good luck in hell, the Kingdom of heaven for Gazans.

TBH, Gazans aren't the real problem here. They're a symptom.

The real problem is that they're the pawns that are bearing the brunt of Iran's hate campaign against Israel.

The people in the refugee camps for the past 75 years should have been cared for a long time ago.

Public universities don't make money. They're not for profits.

And you appear to be an example of why we desperately need to get MORE money into our educational system, not less.

I heard last night on the news that McGill University has invested billions of dollars and students are saying that they are getting rich from genocide and corruption in Canada is the result of the Liberal and Conservative governments that you support. It's time for the police to investigate the Canadian capitalists who are getting rich from the genocide in Gaza, it's not up to the students to do that. You'll tell Poilievre that the money drug also kills a lot of people.
