the fact is it will take one thing and one thing only - the acceptance that israel is legitimate and deserves to exist by palestine and the rest of it's neighbours.

Once that happens, every thing else will start to work itself out over time. Once you decide there's GOING to be an israel and you HAVE to find a way to get along, then bit by bit the rest falls into place.

As you say - the previous peacemaker was shot by his own people for doing that. The people need to accept first - then things can move forward.

No. This is not a simple problem. It’s a complex problem. And the West Bank Israeli settlers are causing terrible problems towards creating peace. Complex problems don’t have simple solutions.

The complexity is irrelevant.  Completely.

In any closed system, entropy always wins. Once you eliminate the underlying concept of 'maybe there doesn't have to be peace, maybe we can make them go away', you close the system and it will settle down over time on it's own. That's human nature as well as nature nature  

And both sides cause problems - the question is how do you unravel it.  And the underlying source of the problem is the refusal of the surrounding groups to accept israel is legitimate and will remain.

once that happens all kinds of things start to change. It takes time, it does require a bit of effort here and there, but if you accept that there IS going to be an isreal then it's inevitable that it will be accepted there is going to be a palestine and tensions will ease over periods of time and people spend more time focusing on how to get ahead and less time shooting rockets at each other.

 

It's that simple and that complex - once it's accepted that israel will exist the problem will eventually solve itself over time, just like pulling the plug on a large pool of water causes it to drain no matter how many fish there are.  It's just a matter of time. The hard part is how do you get there? How do you get everyone to come to that realization and acceptance? THAT'S the complex part.
