The ultimate challenge of GOP: overcome the (very real) threat of authoritarianism

Just as the world enters another critical moment with the Axis of Tyrants seeking to overturn all rules and laws and install their rule of chaos and brutal might, GOP faces the ultimate, in my view, quite possibly existential challenge: to return to the principles of democracy and the Constitution; or to convert into an authoritarian personality cult. Nobody is responsible for this condition but them; and no one can find the way out, for them and instead of them. There are no distractions, diversions and procrastination. One can say firm no to lawlessness and authoritarianism. And one can put up with it, give in to it and cower to it.

No other ways, absolutely. History showed and taught as much, for those who has a working mind and memory.

The decision of the free people to stand up to brutal aggressive dictators three generations back bought no assurances and guarantees that last forever. Only a lease on relatively normal life, for a few generations. The challenge and the choice will return, and has returned. Our choices and actions these days will determine the course of history. And all choices all words and rhetoric will remain in it, for generations to observe and judge.

It would be naive beyond belief and dangerously irresponsible to think that even in its current condition the mob would observe any rules, laws and principles. It has attacked democratic institutions physically. It tries to attack and undermine them in the eyes of the citizens daily, as a deliberate ongoing assault on democracy. If the party could not deal with this problem it has created, it may itself become a threat to the democracy.

Here's something for you to consider: the reason why the GOP still hasn't chosen a speaker is because they are a democratic institution: i.e., representatives vote with their own conscience on behalf of their constituents.

That means that whatever Trudeau says, goes. It gives him dictatorial powers. He can discriminate against Canadians and single them out for persecution and the LPOC/NDP bloc never blinks.

There was no fraud at scale in the 2020 election. It's the most scrutinized election in history. And if there had been fraud, and you still couldn't produce evidence after exhaustive recounts, audits and court challenges, then Republicans clearly not smart enough to be running the country anyway.

Nonsense. Biden was polling ahead, and indeed won as projected. Not only was it possible, it was expected. There has never been any evidence of fraud discovered, despite Republicans doing recounts and audits and court challenges galore.
