Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, and it took a while for him to unseat Amelio, then Jibs offered the board position to Gore in 2001. OS-X and iPod came out shortly after that, with iPhone not appearing until 2007… that’s what started Apple’s meteoric rise. When Gore joined, and for many years after that, Apple was clawing its way to success. It took a long time and a lot of work. Al Gore had MANY options to consider, and he chose Apple, which was falling into bankruptcy at the time.
