I think a big reason they hate Trump is due to their disdain for "greatness". Every single one of these sociopaths wishes the US was nowhere near #1 globally in ANY category except for shit like ESG scores, windmills & Planned Parenthood facilities.

I typically don't see any real unhealthy Trump fixations coming from you, so that may be true.

I think that some of the fixation on Trump is plain and simple boredom. Life is fairly comfortable and easy for quite a few. Complaining about him fills a void.

Confident but kind ?  Why juxtapose those qualities ?

I don't need to read an opinion piece on him, who would ?

I don't hate him but he's a living symbol of the decline of democracy and the final challenge to 250 years of American exceptionalism.  They have to come out of this united, and with a way to solve the problem that is Trump - encompassing both the positives and negatives of what he is - or they won't continue as world leader IMO.

That's a little too broad, but there is definitely boredom involved - that's part of what happens to a society when the citizenry gets lazy and corrupt.

Opinion pieces can absolutely be worthwhile. Hennen's "Refresher" part of his piece is quite telling:

Anyone paying attention should see in plain sight the enormous amount of effort in attempting to destroy him. Here is a refresher:

They illegally surveilled (see spying) his 2016 campaign, and they wrongly accused him of colluding with Russia. We now know the basis of that charge was a fake dossier, funded by the campaign of Hillary Clinton. They lied to a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) Court about the dossier, and last year the FEC (Federal Election Commission) fined the Clinton campaign for funding the Steele dossier as a legal expense.

^Stupid puff piece; probably paid for by Trump.

Trump is a vulgarian, pathological liar and narcissist. His dishonest bullying goes WAY BACK.

He's been sued 3500 times for failure to pay his contractors, laborers, lawyers and others.

He has always used Daddy's money to bully anyone he doesn't like and that's a LOT of people, esp those to whom he owes money.

He got a lot of favorable treatment when he was seen as helping dig NYC out of it's morass, and now he believes he's ENTITLED TO IT.

On top of that he is a racist who was sued and settled for housing discrimination by NYC, and published an op ed which demanded the death penalty for the Central Park 5 even AFTER they were found not guilty and the real perpetrator was identified.

Most of the posters here have no idea who he's always been, cause they only started paying attention in the last decade (if that long).

I don't hate Trump; I hate that he gets away with breaking every rule, all the time, and uses his money to bully people.

Meh.   Frankly - it doesn't matter who the "other guy " is, the dems swear he's satan and for the dem leader they'll spend all the money in the world and we'll be broke

That's the way it is.  Regan was one step down from hitler according to the dems, both bushes were warmongers who'd light the world on fire and destroy freedom, etc etc etc.

It is the way of politics to villify the other guy .

ANd trump is highly entertaining.

I remember Zaphod Beeblebrox from the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy - when he became galactic president everyone was stunned because they thought he'd be terrible at the job - but  what they didn't realize was that the REAL job of president is to entertain the masses and distract their attention away from the people who REALLY made the decisisons ;)  And in that respect he was wildly successful as president :)

maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere

Nonsensical bullshit.

You're barking about Trump's personal flaws. WE ALL have personal flaws. Not one of your moronic gripes extend to the entire country. In other words, despite all his personal flaws, Trump never f*cked up the country. Biden, on the other hand, is into shit that hurts ALL of us; he's into open borders and crippling the economy. THAT is the kind of shit we DON'T want from a president.

And yes you do hate Trump - you hate everything about him. You hate him because that's what leftists do: they hate. ;)

Hate feels like far too personal a reaction. I utterly deplore him and think he's one of the worst human beings on the planet doing more harm to the United States than anyone since Jefferson Davis and Co. He has no redeeming qualities. But it's not personal.

What harm has he done to the country?

He's spent the last 7 years relentlessly preaching to the American people that they can't trust the press, they can't trust the courts, they can't trust our electoral system, they can't trust our intelligence services, they can't trust our military leaders, they can't trust the legislature, they can't trust science, they can't trust medicine, they can't trust their own eyes--and you certainly can't trust any other leader. Indeed, he has done his level best to undermine confidence in every American institution until all that remains is Trump.

And, beyond all sense and reason, 30%+ of the population has been persuaded more quickly and completely than seemed possible. And they show up for him, time and time again, to defend the indefensible.

It really is extraordinary that a man who demonstrably lies about nearly everything -- big, small, consequential or trivial -- has convinced so many people to trust in him and him alone.

He's hurt leftists, that's for damn sure. I'd say it's been 7 years well spent.

Biden is just one tweak away from becoming an invalid. How do you think that looks to both allies and non-allies? His mental and physical condition alone reflects badly on this country, and the tired old piece of shit wants a second term.

No, Trump is bad for leftists, but GREAT for America. We need him back in the Oval Office, badly.

It's not beyond sense.... they built up an image of Donald Trump via mainstream media and the average person might be convinced that his person is as accomplished, intelligent and wise as they were presented on their TV show.

they CAN"T trust the press, they definitely can't trust the courts,  they can't trust the intel services, they can't trust the leg, and they should be very dubious about the rest.

Sooo - i mean, that's 5 for 7 he got right... that's not bad :)

He's incompetent at anything beyond the sales job he's been doing (where he was unethical), he's arrogant beyond reason, he's lazy as sin, and he demands loyalty and deep respect bordering on veneration from those around him while returning none. He's also utterly unprincipled. I mean, sure Biden is corrupt. All American politicians are corrupt. But Biden isn't going to try to drag the country down in flames to extend his time in office or deny losing an election.

Of all these, his incompetence is the worst. We can't have a man as appallingly ignorant of basic facts and reality as Trump in an office like that, especially when he ignores advice from everyone who disagrees with him, regardless of their expertise. He thinks he knows better than the generals because he went to military school. He ignores his intelligence advisors because he thinks FOX news and Breitbart have the only knowledge he needs.  He doesn't understand or care about economics or world geopolitics, and couldn't be bothered to read any of the reports sent to him.

All this from the people he brought into the White House with him.

With strong men like Putin, Xi Jinping, Erdogan, and Kim Jong Un, throwing elbows to get greater power and influence the world can't afford an American president who is far more concerned with his twitter war with a Tier B actress than national security.

"They"...being an establishment that makes billions on military spending...hate Trump because he is not beholden to them. Trump wanted to pull back from policing the world. To make his military strong at home...where it counts.

"They"...being the masses who are repulsed by the guy...have been told they hate Trump daily by a media, owned by the afore mentioned establishment, for a multitude of reasons. None of which make a bunch of sense...but consider the source. It is this group of "They" who can say that the US border is not open...and "They" actually believe that. Contrary to what their own senses tell them.

Et voila...a cult.

?  Weird.

Did Trump cut defense spending ?

Do the masses who love Trump vs the masses who hate him get their information from NOT the media ?

You CAN make up your mind about Trump based on facts:

-Repugnant personal style
-Incompetence
-Refusal to listen or accept responsibility
-Deficit spending during good times

Yes, almost no one would want their daughter to marry a man like that or their sons to become a man like that, anathema to every characteristic of decency, but still push they button to vote him the most powerful man in the world.

That's pretty shortsighted. He certainly antagonized "the left," but the people he really hurt are his most devout followers, who will find themselves increasingly ostracized and marginalized and even more voiceless and than before. When there's nothing left to trust except Trump, and Trump isn't in a position of power, they are left with nothing. -- The rest of the country will not follow them down, and they will not clamber back up, and we must move on without them.
