Finland moves to join NATO ‘without delay’ after Ukraine invasion

Recommended Posts

bear in mind that Finland is an EU member and American Non NATO Military Ally

unlike the Ukrainians, Finnish forces are fully adapted to NATO military hardware

America would be shipping F-35 stealth fighters to Finland

that alone would lay waste to the Russian's obsolete 1980's military

attacking Finland is crossing the trace into World War Three, regardless of NATO membership

the Russians would end up backs against a wall in an escalating vortex, worldwide

the EU doesn't prevent war

that's just marketing for the rubes

It has been very effective in preventing war between its members. The rubes are people who get suckered into believing in the politics of division.

it has not prevented war between it's members

just because none of it's members have gone to war

correlation equals causation fallacy

That's pretty dam dumb, who do you think started the two world wars? One of the reasons for the EU was to never have a repeat. They haven't.

How about the Franco Prussian War. The Prussia Austria war, Napoleonic wars, the Seven Years war? The list of former wars between members is almost endless.

This is the longest period of peace in European history.

none of which has anything to do with the EU

that's because of the Pax Americana and war weariness

the EU just tries to take credit, and internationalist kool-aid drinkers like you buy it

people like you thought the League of Nations would prevent another World War

they were wrong then and you are wrong now

Why are you so against countries trying to form organizations intended to prevent conflicts, do you love wars?

the road to hell is paved with good intentions

the EU does nothing to prevent wars

that's just PR used to sell something that wouldn't otherwise sell on it's actual merits

I'm in favor of subsidiarity and the EU does things that are better handled at the national level

that is my beef with it, it's an overly centralized beaucratic mess

The EU or Nato ?

I get your correlation/causation argument but ... it sure doesn't cause wars, right ?  I mean... there haven't been any so...

the EU

it has yet to cause or prevent any wars

there is nothing about the EU that effects the occurence of war

and those suggesting warfare prevention is it's main selling point are full of shit

they sound just like naive wishful thinking fools who championed the warfare prevention effects of the League of Nations
