Tchaikovski, he was "blue" - some people are left-handed.

WTF?

Neither Paul McCartney nor John Lennon are Confucious. (McCartney, maybe, because he borrowed on his dad's tunes.)

Vietnam War? IMHO, it was one of many important battles in a Cold War.

It was an important battle - like Korea - that we in the West ultimately won.

"Communism? Socialism? We'll bury you!" No one believes that anymore.

I know that some intellectuals worry about leftism. But Americans won!

Some people worry about radical Islam. I don't.

the only way to bring it down is suicide.

Suicide?

So some claim.

But in general, we are collectively sending satellites into space - Webb, for example.

a monkey could be POTUS and America would be fine

only America can beat America

it's actually remarkably hard to fuck it up too badly

All men. And all use the ultimate extortion:

"Believe in me. Or after death, you no longer exist."

not actually a thing

belief is something greater than yourself is helpful

belief in nothing greater than yourself isn't

a simple observation really

Enlightenment is just starting.  At the beginning there were lots of books about religion, and then books about science and knowledge took over.

McLuhan pointed out that new media will first cause people to look in the rearview mirror.  The first popular TV shows were Westerns.  Once we stop using the internet to argue old ideas, we will start to move forward.

Right now, we are arguing religion.  We haven't re-learned pluralism....

Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase !

Interesting.

So...if you play a game of chess with someone, and your opponent captures your king, you would claim victory?

America won.

But gay marriage? Let it be. I do not want a nuclear war for a name.

Mayonnaise? It requires a yolk. Otherwise, it's just salad dressing.

Marriage? I reckon it requires a woman and a man.

Oh boy had big argument with the wife on this.  I argued that as bad as colonialism was we brought Western liberalism to the world.  Your welcome.  The natives here engaged in barbaric coming of age rituals and we stopped that.  We brought an end to much of the caste system in India.  The world is better off now.  Southeast asia 100 years ago was a lesson in poverty.  Not any more.  The wife said different is not better.  Call me a western supremacist.
