The end is zero cases.

Zero cases may not happen for a very long time, if ever. Can you imagine if it never goes away?

We get news from Sweden how the situation there is really bad but even there it is very heavily concentrated. Namely, the capital Stockholm is currently something of the biggest hotbed of the virus and a couple of other cities are also having problems but Sweden is a relatively large country and in most places there is no virus at all.

However, as the borders are beginning to open and the tourism-season will begin Swedes are not welcome in many locations because of the very bad record of the country concerning the virus. I'm sure many people living in the Woods in Sweden are quite pissed off for having their Holiday being denied because of the situation in their capital.

Another thing is that a vast proportion of the deaths in Sweden, as well as here in Finland, are in old-age care homes. In Sweden another large proportion is the ethnic minorities.

The thing with the ethnic minorities is that they don't do social distancing. They just don't do it. It is unthinkable to even expect them to do it.

It seems that the countries that  handled this virus  effectively,   will be reluctant  to have visitors  from  countries  that did not. The whole world is being  monitored now   ........and it is evident   where   efforts have been  serious  and more successful. It is nice to   hear about  the situation in Europe  from someone that lives there.  We  collectively  are living through  a pandemic of "biblical"   proportions.   How we  all handle it   will be recorded  for  historical  perspective.

Yes. I'm hearing and reading much the same from the US (Canadian media would NEVER even suggest such a thing) and from the UK. and it's said that Brazilians aren't doing much social distancing either, nor are Indians.

Both federal and provincial governments instructed people to "self-isolate" when coming into the country.

No true at all. People could voluntarily self-isolate, they were only required to self-isolate if they had symptoms. That was the case right up until March 16th.

The only mandatory quarantines, across the board, were for people coming into Canada after March 16th, so it basically only applied to Canadians.

Some people chose not to, which is hardly JT's fault.

Pretty much everyone chose not to. It's not JT's fault that they followed basic human nature, but it's JT's fault that they were allowed to come in the first place. He was virtue-signalling again when Canadian lives were at risk. 6,000 Canadians died because of it.

(Our cases came from the States, btw, not China.)

Liar. There's absolutely no proof of that whatsoever, and it's a completely stupid notion to begin with.

We had people from the world's foremost covid hotspots like China, Italy, Spain, France and everywhere else flying in, unscreened, and free to roam anywhere in the country.

I can't emphasize strongly enough how unfounded and utterly stupid this comment is.

As for migrants, do you expect JT to stand at the border and mow them down?  Migrants happen, often regardless of what government wants or does.  Claiming he "lets them in without hesitation" displays your complete lack of understanding of the world and people.

Again, this is just stupidity. It's well known across all of North America that Roxham Rd is the "home free" line, because our PM broadcasted that to the world.

When the PM of a country tells foreigners that they can just waltz in, people who want to do that will do that. Your complete lack of understanding of the world and people is on display here.

Totally makes sense. The stuff was good enough to use in January, but by February it was all complete garbage. (just kidding, that was dumb AF)

LMAO.

There are lies in it, and fables like "All of our cases came from the US, not China".

This is reality, it's not an echo chamber for Liberal platitudes.

Dr Tam already fell on her sword to pr0tect Trudeau. She admitted that we should blocked travel earlier and we should have been wearing masks. The gig is up.

It's widespread, but it's not like the Justinian plague or the black plague. It's highly surviveable.

This has been a learn as you go along  virus.  We knew nothing about it at first.  Decisions were made on limited  facts.......As  the information became more complete   Plans  for intervention were changed and adapted.  If one i s going to  blame anyone........it is the folks  that thought they knew better than the medical experts and refused to follow protocols.    By  behaving  in a rebellious  fashion.....they  probably did their share of infecting others.  Just like  terrorist  changed  how we travel and  introduced more "security  in our lives...........this virus is "terrorizing the whole planet.........  and  is changing  how we will be living  from now on.  Those that adapt .....will  survive  .....as  the situation calls for  all  kinds of human ingenuity and creativity. This is a defining moment  in  the planet's history.  We can choose to  adapt  and create  a  new and healthier normal......or we can   rebel, complain,   resist,   etc. It  is  our opportunity  to make responsible   and mature decisions .It is not  nor will it be easy. We have become a society   that is used t of having its way.  We have taken a lot for granted......This  might be a time for some serous introspection.     Things are different now.

With that attitude   ,  losing over  5 million people  is just collateral damage??  A  natural  "cleaning" ?? Survival of the fittest (or luckiest)   and let's just move on?? Those of us that have worked in the medical field  simply don't take   this lightly. or with callous   indifference.

I saw some gorgeous wildlife out there too. They were not afraid to exchange a virus, I'll wager.

Well, I wouldn`t go into Toronto on a bet.  Trinity Bellwoods park today was packed with thousands, not distancing and not wearing masks...

Suicides on the rise amid stay-at-home order, Bay Area medical professionals say

Quote

The head of the trauma in the department believes mental health is suffering so much, it is time to end the shelter-in-place order.

"We've never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time," he said. "I mean we've seen a year's worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks."

....

Kacey Hansen has worked as a trauma nurse at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for almost 33 years. She is worried because not only are they seeing more suicide attempts, she says they are not able to save as many patients as usual.

"What I have seen recently, I have never seen before," Hansen said. "I have never seen so much intentional injury."

....

The trauma team is speaking out because they want the community to be aware, for people to reach out and support each other and for those who are suffering to know they can get help.

Now it is, how about tomorrow ?I think we are forgetting one important thing which is because there is no vaccine for this virus and it travels so fast, there is a probability of a mutation in which case it can go either way. There is no easy answer how to proceed. I think all these measures are to buy time for that vaccine to come out as soon as possible. I really feel for whoever is in charge regardless of country, the stress that they are under, any decision has to be well thought and plan A plan B and plan C has to be ready in case it does not work out.

PS: Toronto, today full parks, here is a picture from CP24:

what is being described is evidence of  a human   crisis.   It is not just the virus,  the   restrictions  that have been  put in place, It is also  the  economy crashing   ......as so many  are on unemployment  insurance ........with  uncertainty  re: future / jobs.   The situation for some is very grim.   I don't think many  rich  people are committing suicide.......just because of the "lock downs"  Many of them  have the resources to help  deal with  this pandemic. Those that  cosider  suicide as an option   to  deal with the situation, most likely also  have other r psychological  problems  as well

Not normally. When they mutate these respiratory viruses often fall apart. So while there is no way to be "certain" what it will do, there is no point in hiding while we wai for something to mutate. You might also get hit by a bus tomorrow, does that mean everyone should stay home now?
