My friends marched to their deaths for this country.  Fully knowing what they were doing, and they were cut down in their prime, for Canada.

It upsets me that they died for this shit, breaks my heart actually.

Canada putting them in a terrible spot without the proper tools for the job certainly isn't tabloid garbage, and yet Canadians seem to care far more about the tabloid garbage than the well being of those who put their lives on line for this Post-National monstrosity. Disgusting, F*ck Canada.

Indeed. Most Canadians may not give a shit, but I certainly do.

At least the guys who died in World War Two and Korea fought for a serious country doing serious things, building something.

What did the guys who died at the White School House fight for ?

Trump Derangement Syndrome and Virtue Signalling ?

Justin is on stage every time he goes out in public , it is part of the job....he has responsibilities, to represent Canada in the best light possible... di he do that , answer is no he did not, like I said before want to mock trump do it with the wife or close friend, not in the canteen in front of all the other world leaders. It's not good to show our enemies our dirty laundry or the divisions in NATO.

That whole episode said more about Trump’s fragility than it did Trudeau, who said nothing of any concern. He commented on the length of the press conference.  So what?  It was like when Trump put Trudeau on the spot about NATO funding or when he called Trudeau weak or meek and mild.  It’s the same narrative I remember watching over social media (out of Ukraine?).  Nobody was fooled.  Trump will always be remembered as a bully and wannabe fascist.  I respect his nerve when he takes up the right causes, for example, on Syria’s use of chemical weapons or China’s IP theft.  Trump’s tariffs are a blunt instrument and he has damaged relations with allies.  Trudeau, Macron, Bojo, and others commiserate about Trump because they think he’s a dick and they’re right.  At least they don’t call him names.  Trump has called Trudeau and others many names and it’s unstatesmanlike.

They're both clowns. I like Putin. He's the best leader in the world right now.

Trump is suppose to be a dick....he was elected to be a dick, not a statesman.     How dare Trump call out the NATO deadbeats for what they are !

The Grand Bargain is over, for several reasons, and this started before Trump.

You're damn right Canada is ripping of the United States... To say anything else, would be dishonest. All America has to do is say, pay up or if you're attacked you're on your own. Don't go eazy on Canada, because we don't deserve it.

Why should Canada get to freeload when America is 23 Trillion in debt, trying to defend the world?

America should say look... We're too broke for your B.S.

That's what America is saying, Canadians just haven't considered the ramifications of America reining in its largess to deal with debt servicing.

Canadians is of course free to run to their new overlords in Beijing, ask Hong Kong how that goes.

Put if this way. If America didn't exist. If we has an ocean on our southern border, how much would be spending on our military? I think we would be taking things a lot more seriously, if America didn't exist.

Australias spend almost double on a per captia basis as Canada on their national defence.

Canada would not exist without America.   But it's not about how much you spend, it's about what you spend it on.

Canada spends a huge amount in DND, it just isn't spent on troops and weapons.

All the money goes to regional boondoggles, the biggest one being that Canada keeps enough military bases open for a million man army, when Canada has less than a hundred thousand.

Yes, as the Australians refer to Canada as "bludgers" for military readiness:

Quote

Noun. bludger (plural bludgers) (Australia, slang) A pimp, a man living off the earnings of a harlot. [From 1856.] (Australia, New Zealand, slang, derogatory) A person who avoids working, or doing their share of work, a loafer, a hanger-on, one who does not pull their weight.

Wasn't there a big incident back in 1997, where Chretien has to get somewhere and they couldn't find a working helecopter? I remember a guy in my highschool, a grade 10 student yelling at the teacher... Saying we Canadians look pathetic because of it.

He went on a rant, about how we have a fake military just for public relations.

That is essentially correct, the CF is a public relations exercise to propagate the Peacekeeping Myth and to pretend that Canada is still a player in NATO

The other purpose it serves is to buy votes by funneling pork to various riding's in the form of useless military boondoggles.

I just don't like dishonesty. Like if we don't want a strong military, we should be honest about it... I hate the virtue signalling... We ain't peacekeepers. We get American to do our dirty work, and then call them aggressors.

It's just a huge waste of money, it doesn't defend Canada from anything, so it's $20 billion or so down the drain every year, Canadians receive no value for the money.

That's part of the reason I like the second amendment... It's cheaper as a national defence policy to encourage militias. If you gave every fit Canadian a rifle, we would have better national defense. Who would invade Toronto, if half the people in the suburbs had an AR-15?

Canada is a fake country, you're just an American without free speech and  gun rights.

I would Canada has more free Speech than sue-crazy America, but you're right on about gun rights. Remember when they tried to bankrupt Oprah, just because she told people to be careful about mad cow disease?

Hate Speech Law Canada with a Notwithstanding Clause that overrides all constitutional speech protections, has more free speech than America? Hilarious.

You're not safe from being sued in Canada, don't know why you would think that.

Canada is a slap on the wrist country. I know a guy in highschool who stabed someone to death at 17. He only spent 5 months in Juvi, and they put him in our school.
