I said Mankind won because we do not know how long dinosaurs were alive, as we only know how long ago they perished.  Whereas we know Mankind has been alive for about 6,000 years, AND COUNTING, at least according to the holy bible's clues.

So IMHO if we ever get proof that dinosaurs were alive for longer than 6,000 years then you will have a valid point.

I could have been reading my book.

Still, it's not been a completely wasted afternoon.  I did some Linux updates while I was on here.

I hate that your afternoon is wasted, perhaps you can save the day ---by using your evening to figure out just how long did dinosaurs exist during their time on Earth.

The arbitrary arrest and torture of Iranian citizens by The most barbaric and hated occupying regime of islamic republic is not limited only to dual citizens and regime critics but this plague republic has a history of going against the brightest and most genius in the country and these are the most recent.

The peaceful struggle by the nation of Iran against this murderous islamic regime will continue till this land of Aryans is freed from these subhuman mullahs who made the fictitious movies of the 70's "Planet of the Apes" a reality/

It appears the murderous Islamic regime has politically stabilized itself temporarily by the use of brutal force and mass murder and imprisonment of activists and intimidation for now. But the Islamic republic is a disease and the running organs like mullahs and the revolutionary thugs are like the viruses of that disease.

The longer they remain the more the antibodies will be produced. Right now some two-third of population have become aware of the murderous nature of this regime and what it stands for. The percent and number is increasing every day as the regime has to use increasing violence and brutality in order to remain in power. So more and more will fall victims to this regime and the antibodies will one day soon overwhelm the viruses and the nation will come out again united and stronger and this time more aware and awaken.

There are no rights for humans under islamic repunlic.

In a letter to the head of the Islamic Republic's Judiciary on Monday, July 6, Amnesty International (AI) called for the immediate and unconditional release of a civil rights and a women’s rights activist.

Saba Kordafshari, an activist who took part in s campaign against compulsory hijab was arrested in Tehran in August 2018 and transferred to Qarchak Prison a few days later. According to civil society activists, in the early days of her arrest, she was under intense pressure for a "television confession."

https://en.radiofarda.com/a/amnesty-international-calls-for-immediate-release-of-anti-hijab-activist/30713952.html

Immediately after her release, she revealed in a letter, "When I saw the situation of prisons closely, especially in Qarchak, I concluded...there are no rights for humans in Iran, let alone respecting human rights in prisons."

Three months later, the Islamic Republic security forces arrested Kordafshari again, confiscating her cell phone, laptop, and other personal effects.

"Saba Kordafshari's access to the medical care has been denied, which she requires for pre-existing gastrointestinal problems that have been exacerbated in prison and from which she is in pain,

And while the nation lives in absolute poverty and unpaid wages, the islamic republic lawmakers get huge sums of wages.

I follow Daniel Bordman on FB, he has some things that I don't see anywhere else and it has always checked out when it's interesting enough that I bother to look it up.

This is a story from Iran though and I wouldn't know where to go to really look into it.

3 protestors sentenced to death.

Quote

Fourteen human rights organizations, including the United for Iran organization, have called for Amir Hossein Moradi, Saeed Tamjidi, and Mohammad Rajabi death sentences' abolition. The letter referred to violating the accusers' rights by obtaining compulsory confessions, lack of access to a lawyer, and being torture

The charge is "Enmity against god" according to this source.

Have any of you guys been following this story?

Daniel Bordman was talking about whether our PM should send a message, lol.

Is this all legit?

America’s maximum pressure campaign left the regime with very few options short of surrender. The mullahs appear to have decided that agreeing to a 400 billion dollar, 25 year deal with China is the least painful choice:

Quote

Iranian supporters of the strategic partnership say that given the country’s limited economic options, the free-falling currency and the dim prospect of U.S. sanctions being lifted, the deal with China could provide a lifeline.

“Every road is closed to Iran,” said Fereydoun Majlesi, a former diplomat and a columnist for several Iranian newspapers on diplomacy. “The only path open is China. Whatever it is, until sanctions are lifted, this deal is the best option.”

This would be a serious blow to India and its efforts to open a route to Central Asia through the Iranian port of Chabahar:

Quote

Chinese naval facilities in Djibouti, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar will be sending an ominous message to New Delhi and Washington.

Some encouraging news from Iran. People are objecting online to arbitrary executions. Apparently as a result, three have been postponed.

Quote

Iranians from all walks of life — teachers, doctors, designers, cooks, actors, directors, artists, homemakers, bloggers — have taken to social media with a message for the government: Stop the executions.

Yes in spite of executions, arbitrary arrests, mass intimidation, beatings, torture, and many other actions by  mullah's regime of islamic republic the brave nation of Iran continues its opposition to this self imposed most hated murderous regime of subhuman mullahs and marching towards a massive uprising which would end this dreadful days of islamic republic and bring about democracy and prosperity to Iran and Iranians.

https://en.radiofarda.com/a/breaking-news-protests-break-out-in-iran/30732043.html

As mentioned before the nation has also taken to social media to bravely condemn barbaric actions by this murderous islamic regime.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/07/iranians-social-media-storm-halt-executions-200715141507408.html

The only ones deserving executions are the leaders of this murderous regime who have murdered millions of their own people. Free the defenseless protesters. Where is the world. Why everyone is watching while these atrocities being committed against this defenseless nation? Shame!!.

Iran's islamic regime message to its people: If you revolt, you die

The Iranian authorities are ramping up repression. They fear mass protests now more than ever.

Today, Iranian people are fed up with the government's totalitarian desire to control all aspects of their lives and its apparent inability to address pressing environmental threats, such as air pollution and drought. Moreover, they are extremely dissatisfied with its bungling response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But above all, many Iranians from all walks of life are experiencing unprecedented, crippling economic hardship as a result of the cumulative consequences of the US sanctions, the COVID-19 pandemic and the incompetence of the Iranian government.

Iranians have been protesting against increasing economic hardship since December 2017. Most recently in November last year, they took to the streets en masse to protest against an unexpected increase in gasoline prices. The government violently cracked down on the protests, killing up to 1,500 people and injuring many others.

Today, Iran's security and political elites are clearly working overtime to prevent a new round of civic unrest. It is impossible to know whether they will succeed in sedating, and scaring, the Iranian masses enough to prevent another round of nationwide protests. One thing, however, is certain: in the hopes of maintaining order, the Iranian regime is becoming more authoritarian and repressive every passing day.

Amnesty International's recent report on Islamic Republic Regime in Iran.

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2020/09/iran-detainees-flogged-sexually-abused-and-given-electric-shocks-in-gruesome-post-protest-crackdown-new-report/

  • Widespread torture including beatings, floggings, electric shocks, stress positions, mock executions, waterboarding, sexual violence, forced administration of chemical substances, and deprivation of medical care
  • Hundreds subjected to grossly unfair trials on baseless national security charges
  • Death sentences issued based on torture-tainted “confessions”

In the days following the mass protests, videos showing Iran’s security forces deliberately killing and injuring unarmed protesters and bystanders sent shockwaves around the world. Much less visible has been the catalogue of cruelty meted out to detainees and their families by Iranian officials away from the public eye.
Instead of investigating allegations of enforced disappearance, torture and other ill-treatment and other crimes against detainees, Iranian prosecutors became complicit in the campaign of repression by bringing national security charges against hundreds of people solely for exercising their rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly, while judges doled out guilty verdicts on the basis of torture-tainted ‘confessions’.
This litany of crimes and violations, committed with total impunity, has been accompanied by a wave of forced televised ‘confessions’ in state propaganda videos and grotesque statements from top officials who have praised intelligence and security forces as heroes for their role in the brutal crackdown.

Now I can understand Dana White making a public plea for clemency but what on earth did Trump think he was doing getting involved here? There is no way he helped the man’s cause by supporting it.

This is Iran's fault, not Donald Trump.

I’m not absolving the Iranian regime but Trump should have known that any contribution from him would be counter-productive. The two countries are at war. Imagine if Iran killed Pence and the mullahs later demanded the reprieve of somebody on death row. He did this purely for electoral and egotistical reasons.

Why should I imagine something as absurd as that. He was accused of murder. He is one of their own, not Pence. Why do you people always try to turn things into brain salad?

The poor guy was dogmeat already. Iran gonna kill ya. Because they are cowards. Trump brought it to the world's attention, so cowards on the left will hear the reality of the country they want to defend, and do business with.

Trump did NOT bring to this case to ‘the world’s attention’. He was merely looking for more attention for himself as usual. As any half-sensible person can see, his involvement could not have been helpful and wasn’t intended to be either.

Ok, we since you've put it in capitals, how can I disagree? If you say so.

Just wondering though, do you think we'd be jockeying it back and forth in this thread right now if he didn't? It is actually the reason you mentioned it. And now, we all now what an asshole Iran really is.

Thanks Spanky, and thanks Donald Trump!

I’d have no objection to Trump commenting after the execution. Commenting before was a cynical exercise that did nothing to help the guy. BTW this was news before Trump stuck his nose in.

To jump in here out of nowhere ... I don't think Trump was being 'cynical' because that would imply he knew that his intervention  -- Trump, the executioner of  Solemeini -- would be like the kiss of death for that poor guy.  He's just too stupid to realize that.

The interesting question is, what does this shocking execution say about what is happening internally in Iran?

I have no inside information sources, nor any real specialist knowledge, but my first thought was -- regime in trouble, and trying to put the frighteners on the opposition. Or may some internal split among the gangsters and mullahs?

Too bad they don't have a Second Amendment in Iran.
