In a message on Instagram, she wrote, “How do I start? With a hello, a goodbye or to offer my condolences? Hello to the oppressed people of Iran, goodbye to the noble people of Iran, and my condolences to the perpetually mourning people of Iran.” She recounted being “a pawn” of a regime that told her how to dress, dictated what she said, and paraded her and her medals around for political gain. “To the kind and oppressed people of Iran: I did not want to climb to a pedestal whose steps are paved with lies and deceit,” she wrote. “I am willing to bear the difficulty of living in exile because I could no longer stay at a table where dishonesty, con-artistry and injustice were being served. The same day Sotoudeh was sentenced, the UN investigator on human rights in Iran held up her case as a sign of the country’s increasingly brutal oppression of those who defend the rights of women. “Worrying patterns of intimidation, arrest, prosecution, and ill-treatment of human rights defenders, lawyers, and labor rights activists signal an increasingly severe state response,” he said. 1 Quote "There are two different types of people in the world - those who want to know and those who want to believe." ~~ Friedrich Nietzsche ~~

These subhuman murderous mullahs and their thugs are only creating more hate for themselves, for the regime and for the faith they supposedly represent with these brutal actions, killings and repressions. Time is against them. Iranian society is now highly advanced. The 6th century imposed arab culture imposed by invasion and occupation of Persia is no longer accepted and totally rejected by increasing number of Iranians who are now becoming a great majority in Iran. These mullahs may remain in power for a while longer by fear, intimidation and mass killing and brutal repression. But their repressive rule will end for sure. The question is when and at what price. How many more innocent women, children and men have to be sacrificed for these aging subhuman murderous mullahs to survive a while longer. Support from the West would make the inevitable sooner and with less bloodshed. On the other hand appeasing the regime as was practiced by Obama administration and currently being practiced by Europeans would mean they can hang on to power longer and much more innocent people will die the blood for whom will be n the hands of the leaders who try to sign a pack with the devil. The oppressors can't help but do themselves in on their own. This process was well underway back in 1953 in Iran and other countries in the ME region and we fucked it all up by interfering in it. I think there is also a very good reason to believe that in doing so we also set back the same sort of reformation of Islam that Christianity was subjected to with the evolution of better human rights, greater freedom and more democracy. I see that model as Europe during the middle ages when the church had lots of power that interfered with the day to day lives of people. This came to the head when King Henry VIII wanted to re-marry and the church did not allow him. Of course he married again and told the church to pi@& off. He instigated the separation of church from the state. The rest is history following the industrial revolution and modernisation in Europe. Bottom line there’s no place for religion in politics or in Henry’s case personal life... England got this right but somehow their interference in other countries’ politics always seems to be a stumbling block. It evolve around exploiting the various religious factions and create endless wars..... Edited January 20, 2020 by kactus 1 Quote

How many MORE innocent women, children and men do you think is accepted to be killed before this happens? Plus the fact that Iran itself is in danger of disintegration as the restless minorities under repression for many years (most severe past 25 years) may decide to just put the 25 century shared history behind and leave the Federation. You have seen my many posts related to 1953 coup in Iran. Yes as I have said it many times this coup led to the 1979 disaster when Iran became "planet of the apes", however, keeping all facts in perspective, I am not sure in 1953 Iran society was ready for democracy as it is in 2020. It is possible that if the coup had not taken place with a democratically elected government of Mossadegh that these apes may have taken control even sooner or the traitor Soviet puppet Tudeh party may have staged a coup and Iran would have become a part or a Satellite of Soviet empire as they tried to do in 1946 with Iranian province of Azarbayjan and the pro-Soviet coup in Afghanistan and 1980 invasion of Afghanistan. What concerns me is that while he appears to support Iranian people at the same time he is showing willingness to negotiate with the regime who is killing them!!. So I begin to wonder if his support for the repressed nation will evaporate if and when the mullahs have no choice but to surrender and the ayatollah has to drink another jar of poison? Well he did that with the Kurd who thought against ISIS and were on the same side as US. The Kurds were at the mercy of Turkish army. I wouldn’t read too much into his tweets. If they last past the election then perhaps there is something in that message for Iranian people... Quote

Yes you are correct about the Kurds. But Iran has a lot more significance for the whole world than the Kurds. Not sure about the second part though. In my view Trump's tweet warning the mullah not to kill as they did last November (1500 defenseless people shot dead), reminding them that the world is watching worked as after several days of fierce anti-regime demonstrations when the supreme leader himself was the target and fiercely insulted not even one person was killed so it worked quite well if that was the reason which in my view was at least part of the reason. On Saturday, it cited "multiple" media reports and information submitted by the Iranians through its Rewards for Justice tipline that units under Brigadier General Hassan Shahvarpour’s command killed as many as 148 people when they used armored vehicles to encircle fleeing protesters, firing machine guns into the crowd and setting fire to the marsh in which protesters took cover. The State Department said it was designating Shahvarpour, a commander in Khuzestan province where Mahshahr is located, under a U.S. law banning officials of foreign governments and their immediate family members for whom there was "credible information on their involvement in gross violations of human rights."
