I certainly hope that you will no longer use that hashtag," McKenna said. Wilson replied that he personally has never called her that name. However, the reporter has used it at least twice on Twitter and it appeared in an article published under his byline in January. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment. this so-called reporter can’t even stand up for what he wrote and has to lie about it when confronted by Minister McKenna. What a coward. Quote
hot enough Posted November 4, 2017 Report Posted November 4, 2017 this so called reporter, Wilson, doubled down on his stupidity after his "boss" showed his colors. Quote The Rebel did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but on Saturday morning founder Ezra Levant tweeted, "Appointed to fill a gender quota; unable to control her emotions when criticized; spends taxes on vanity photo shoots. #ClimateBarbie fits. And after his testy exchange with the minister Wilson wrote in a Twitter post, "Our Alberta bureau chief coined the phrase 'Climate Barbie,' a reference to McKenna's shallowness. She did not disprove that tonight." Ibid Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 4, 2017 Report Posted November 4, 2017 I love it when Canadians import American references to insult each other....this slur is courtesy of Mattel, Inc. (El Segundo, CA.). Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
cannuck Posted November 5, 2017 Report Posted November 5, 2017 I would think that even Barbie and Ken would have the sense NOT to just get in line behind the Euroweenies in the carbon crusades. Quote
drummindiver Posted November 5, 2017 Report Posted November 5, 2017 The very article lies about the Rebel being alt right. They are not. McKenna makes derogatory comments about anyone who doesn't share her beliefs yet demands different behaviour from others. Hypicrite. And as usual, HE off on one of his off topic tangents. Seek help son, you need ir. Quote

drummindiver Posted November 5, 2017 Report Posted November 5, 2017 She coined the phrase " coalition of idiots" , a play on coalition of the willing. Clearly she's talking Liberal party. Quote

How can you so starkly avoid reality? Clearly these gullible dupes WERE a coalition of idiots, major idiots. The illegal invasions of I and A were predicated on rank US/UK lies! And there still are so many of the same idiots around supporting the USA in its war crimes/terrorism/ false accusations against Muslims, Iraqis, Afghans, Syrians, Libyans, ... . There are the USGOCT conspiracy theorist idiots who can't provide a single piece of evidence to support that nutty pastiche of arrant lies. These lies that have directly caused the deaths of millions, the ruined lives of hundreds of millions and the ongoing troubles in our much troubled world. And the nuttiest thing of all, some incredibly stupid, naive or willfully blind westerners still cling to all the transparent lies advanced by the US/UK/... . Quote

Jariax Posted November 6, 2017 Report Posted November 6, 2017 While I think Rebel Media has a place in Canadian news, they also need to realize that taking cheap, often personal shots at politicians and others will cause them to be treated poorly by those same people. You can't talk shit about people on the internet, and then expect to shake hands and share a joke, when you meet then in person. In the case of Mckenna, she may have made some mistakes (which she should be held accountable for), but she is very well qualified, and deserves the position she was awarded. Furthermore, referring to her as Climate Barbie is sexist, and shouldn't be a term used by any serious news source. And to be fair, the left wing is just as guilty. The shots that took at Rob Ford and continue to take at Donald Trump are just as egregious. We need to stop taking cheap shots at right wing politicians and then cry foul when the right wing does the same. Remember when Now posted a naked picture of Rob Ford on its cover? Imagine if that was done to Andrea Horvath. 1 Quote
PIK Posted November 7, 2017 Report Posted November 7, 2017 And her dismissing people that don't believe everything they have been told is worse. She and the GG need to resign and lets get some proper people in place. 1 Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

"people that don't believe everything they have been told" would be, let me guess, climate science denying conservatives. Thinkinoutsidethebox Posted November 8, 2017 Report Posted November 8, 2017 "Climate Barbie" is pretty catchy, instead of fighting it she should own it. That would teach her kids how to handle situations like this. It would also really piss off the righties Quote

An equally more important issue that has seen its rightful share of screen time is that this Rebel "reporter" lied and was caught in those bald faced lies. Is it not the duty of reporters to tell the truth? [Of course I'm joking on my question. We live in the West!] Quote

PIK Posted November 8, 2017 Report Posted November 8, 2017 Environment Minister Catherine McKenna blamed staff for a tweet issued from her ministerial account praising Syria for joining the Paris Climate Accord. She called him on it and that was his knee jerk reaction, if she's been using climate change as a photo opp then he should have said so. There may be totally legitimate reasons to call her Climate Barbie. Reporters enter the industry with the best of intentions, problem is they have to answer to editors and editors have to answer to the the board and the board have to answer to advertisers and/or subscribers. This is a problem with capitalist media and it's getting worse as they are getting squeezed by alternate news sources. I bet Rebel subscriptions fluctuate daily based on actions and decisions made by staff and management, numbers = revenue. Quote

As Seymor Hersh says, editors are mice trained to be rats. An addendum, reporters are mice to remain mice but they act like rats. There are some decent, honorable reporters, like Hersh, John Pilger, William Blum, ... but mainstream media, and the Rebel like squads are pure propagandists. Quote
