Sounds like they got nothing on him, and are just desperately fishing for more leads, Mueller's hail mary if you will. He knew this was the end game, obviously when you take on the establishment they're going to sic the FBI on you in a political witch hunt by trumped up and/or false charges. But Stone goes after them anyways, eyes wide open, that's what makes him heroic.
