We cannot afford bleeding heart liberalism anymore. Canada and Canadians have bills to pay. Yet immigrants have a better track record of paying those bills than old stock Canadians. Quote
Vega Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 I guarantee you it will get worse. If you keep importing immigrants, people will get increasingly angry, and we'll have a Donald Trump. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Canada already had a "Donald Trump" long before in Adrien Arcand. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Not all new immigrants have great track records. Many do end up staying on welfare for years, and some of the old stock Canadians like me will have to pay for it. If an new immigrant or refugee cannot take care of themselves and pay their own way then they should not be allowed in. The Canadian welfare state should be there for Canadians not refugees. Would you let someone stay in your home for free, and maybe for years? Canada is my home, and I don't want to pay for people to live here for free. It is time to show some tough love in Canada. I could break down for a few instances but not for tens of thousands. Quote
CITIZEN_2015 Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) Yes immigrants should do more to fit. They have chosen on their own free will to come here and they have to change and fit. It is not the other way round to try to change us and yes if they don't like what they see and the way we live then they can go back where they come from. I think Argus had a good point on saying that immigration is intended to benefit canada and selection should be based on that criteria. It is not intended as a charity. That said I am still against regional selection but as time passes by and I see and hear things I may soon cross that border too. Edited October 10, 2016 by CITIZEN_2015 Quote
Rupert Pupkin Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Leitch is 100% wrong, and a poll filled with false dichotomies does nothing to help her. Leitch is not interested in Canadians, she is interested in propagating fear in order to enrich herself. She is the pretender - shades of Trump. Quote

Yet the poll was taken on behalf of the Toronto Star, a very left leaning news organization. Why would you suggest it's false? PIK Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I for one am sick and tired of the word immigrant. I am tired of being told Canada is a land of immigrants. I am tired of being told to STFU about opinions on immigration. I am tired of questioning our immigration rules then be called a racist for doing so. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
eyeball Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 Schadenfreude is a gas. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
