Topaz Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Well, some drivers won't be happy with these new rules and fees but it does help out communities in getting the fines from out of province drivers who don't pay..so American drivers especially beware. http://www.torontosun.com/2015/12/22/new-fees-rules-for-ontario-drivers-in-2016 Quote
Boges Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Those don't seem like a big deal. Quote
Guest Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 The fees seem reasonable to me as well. Quote
eyeball Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) As of Jan. 1, drivers will be required under law to remain stopped at a pedestrian or school crossing until everyone is off the roadway. I got pulled over for that on a four lane road once. I was over in my far lane and the pedestrian and a ghost car were in the other far lane. I know I know, the law is the law is the law. I'm just thinking about the number of times since I've abided the law and had cars pass me on my right in obvious frustration. There's never a cop around when you want one. Shady Posted December 25, 2015 Report Posted December 25, 2015 The big fees for regular drivers were already implemented this year, last year, and the year before. Quote
Ash74 Posted December 26, 2015 Report Posted December 26, 2015 The only way for "The Big Move" to work is if everybody quits driving. The only way to get people to quit driving is by making it expensive. This will lead to other serious issues but everything is expendable when it comes to the Wynne polices. So you're saying Wynne wants everyone to stop driving and this is how she is going about implementing her nefarious plan? That's quite the conspiracy theory.... Quote
Shady Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Making driving more expensive hurts the middle class and the poor the most. Quote
overthere Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 If Ontario wants to crucify drivers with costs they should study the UK. That place has mastered the art of making car owners pay for every second they own a car. It doesn't matter if you drive it, you have to pay for every minute it is at rest too. If we don't get hit with fees, we will be hit with other fees to use the roads. Toll roads that private corps own, built on taxpayer money, and we STILL have to pay for it all. WTF. Quote
