WestCoastRunner Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Oh and gun violence is actually down despite WCR lies and assertions.Mass shootings are not down. WestCoastRunner Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Dealing with mentally ill people is much more difficult than it used to be in the past because of liberal do-gooders like yourself. This isn't a gun issue at all. This crime could've been committed with a hunting rifle. And nobody's pushing the idea of banning those. For gods sake shady. Lose the partisanship and address the real issues of society dealing with mental illness. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. bush_cheney2004 Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Total gun homicides in the U.S. are way down from a peak during the early 1990's crack wars. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
On Guard for Thee Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Total gun homicides in the U.S. are way down from a peak during the early 1990's crack wars. 25 years ago. How are y'all doin' compared to Canada? Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 That is because the media, the internet and social media ensure wide distribution of whatever crazy ideas the shooter may have. We could not create a better environment for encouraging mass killings if we tried. So I guess you're trying to say if we just closed our twitter accounts we'd all be safe, and we could keep the corner midnight gun stores open. Holy cow! Quote

Shady Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Cite? Psst: a hunting rifle is a gun. Right. And there are tens of thousands of hunting rifles in just Ontario. But nobody's pushing the idea of banning those here either. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Right. And there are tens of thousands of hunting rifles in just Ontario. But nobody's pushing the idea of banning those here either. Uh shady. We don't have gun violence that's worth pursuing banning guns. Shady Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Today, state civil commitment laws can make it difficult or impossible to hospitalize adults involuntarily, even when their families or caregivers feel threatened and patients appear extremely sick. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/07/mental-illness-civil-commitment/1814301/ Quote
Shady Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Uh shady. We don't have gun violence that's worth pursuing banning guns. Why don't we? It'd be fairly easy to take a rifle into a school and kill several people. Quote

Shady Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Because we don't have a problem with mass shootings, that's why. Why don't we have a problem with gun violence if gun violence is just attributed to the availability of guns? We have tens of thousands of a particular gun in just Ontario. What gives? Quote

Shady Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Seriously? You are asking this question of Canadian culture? Canada does not have a violent gun culture. Aren't you glad you live in Canada! Ok cool. I agree that it's not the availability of guns either. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Ok cool. I agree that it's not the availability of guns either. I think you need to dig a little deeper shady to understand gun violence in the u.s. And to even compare it to hunting rifles in Ontario shows a lack of understanding on the subject matter. And it's a complete disgrace given the horrific shootings of kindergarten children, theatre goers, folks just doing their job, politicians just doing their job etc. it goes on and on and on and you are comparing this to hunting rifles in Ontario. This clearly shows your lack of emotional intelligence when analyzing world events. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. Derek 2.0 Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Ok cool. I agree that it's not the availability of guns either. Its not, nor is it the types of guns, as the majority of firearms one is able to purchase legally in the United States, one can also purchase in Canada. The difference is who can purchase said firearms and the differing rates of violent crime between the two countries. Quote

Derek 2.0 Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 The difference is also the 'gun culture'. Does anyone need the definition of 'gun culture' explained to them? No, its not.......there is a gun culture here too, just as enshrined in our history as the Americans. The difference, as said above, is crime rates between both nations, coupled with licensing here in Canada, which greatly reduces instances of criminals and the mentally ill being able to obtain firearms. Derek 2.0 Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Crime rates are driven in part by the availability of guns. Nonsense, availability of guns does not equate to a society's crime rates..........a gun does not transform someone into a criminally minded person. Quote
