Kudos to the 2 young US soldiers on the train to Paris for subduing a terrorist. The idiot terrorist reportedly from Morrocco ran through the train with a machine gun and the two young men and a Brit subdued him. One of the Yanks almost lost his thumb and was cut on the back of his neck.

They prevented a train massacre.

This will not be the last of these damn attacks and no they won't stop because you hide at home from them.

The only way to stop them is to fight back in this case luckily we had trained soldiers in the right place at the right time. Unarmed civilians may not have been able to stay so focused and calm. Its not easy to stay calm and leap into action like that. Good for these young men. T

Remember this those of you who whine about the US Armed Forces on the front lines fighting terrorists.

Seconded. Good for them. Right place at the right time.

I hope all the wounded survive. Shame the gunman did.

Great and brave move by those folks on the train. They do deserve accolades for their actions. I had wondered why people apear to sit and wait for death when it is obvious that with the great superiority of numbers that many would survive a frontal attack on the terrorist.

There has been a recent twist. Everyone assumes that this is a dedicated Islamist extremist intent on murder and martyrdom. This guy does not appear one of those interested in proclaiming his dedication to Mohammed;

"El Khazzani had lived in Spain until last year, moved to France then travelled to Turkey then Syria where he is believed to have trained with ISIS before returning to France.

He was also arrested in Spain at least once for a drug related source, the source revealed.

But today the man's lawyer said his client had been shocked and surprised "to the point of being amused" when he was arrested.

He told police he had found a bag stuffed full of guns and a knife in Brussels and decided to use them to rob people.

El Khazzani said: "He does not understand why this story has taken on such importance. He says he just wanted to extort money from Thalys passengers, nothing else. He denies that there was any terrorist dimension to his plot. That almost made him laugh.

"From the outset he has refused to disclose his identity and that of his parents. He claims he found the Kalashnikov, the Luger handgun and a mobile phone abandoned in a bag at the station in Brussels where he had been sleeping. He's been homeless since his ID papers were stolen in Brussels.

"He previously worked as a house painter in Spain and was convicted of two drug trafficking offences in 2013."

I cannot believe that someone could be that stupid to believe his story. But it takes all kinds.

It is refreshing to see that not all head cases are dedicated to suicide and their multitude of virgins in the afterlife.

I heard that Trudeau, May, and Mulcair would like an investigation into why these brave Americans used violence to subdue the terrorist when obviously some warm blankets and lots of hugs would have been far more effective.

But did you see his name??? He's a terrorist!

Uh, it was a pure stroke of luck these guys were there at the time. Nothing to do with U.S. foreign policy.

One would have to ask the question why would anyone need 8 fully loaded mags for an assault rifle, to rob a train...seems like a little over kill does it not.....

This guy was on 3 countries watch lists, how did he get on these lists....i get it his name.....

1. Black Dog as usual you missed the point I made in your rush to smirk. The point I was making is to deal with terrorism one must deal with it directly.

It was directed at appeasers of terrorists on this board who use rhetoric that terrorists only do bad things to bad people i.e., bad Jews, interfering colonialists. Zip over your left wing presumptious smirk. But you bet I would expect your anti American comment. Of course.

As for Big Guy you bet he will get into this b.s. now that this guy was not engaged in a terrorist act. Denial. Gee who saw that coming. Oh he was just going to rob people. Oh well then. Such crap and right on cue to deny it was a terrorist attack. Go on y'all join in. Its racist to assume he was a terrorist just because he was Muslim. He was just a robber.

What bilge. Exactly the bilge I would expect.

Right on cue. The West is responsible for a Muslim genocide. How is it relevant to this thread?I love it. Denial, of terrorism followed by justification of terrorism by suggesting its a reaction to genocide.

Go on please continue.

I guess the train heroes story is intended to erase this one from mainstream consideration:

4 Million Muslims Killed In Western Wars: Should We Call It Genocide?

I'd be curious to know how many of those Muslims were killed by Muslims.....Killed by their own countrymen, or Muslims from around the world just trying to get in on the killing because it was their right to fight Jihad.....Maybe we should just take responsibility for every muslim's life around the world throw them in the count as well, after all they must have died due to something the west did......

I imagine a lot of them are, if we include the proxy armies that are armed and trained by the US in Iraq and Afghanistan. But since this thread started with blather about "stopping terrorism" it needs to be pointed out once in a while now, that the root causes of terrorism and sectarian wars need to be addressed.

What's better than fate having three army guys just happening to be in the right place at the right time to stop a terrorist attack on a train? NOT having someone with an axe to grind against the Neoconservative regime changers in the Arab World.

Sorry Wip I missed your point. I don't get the last two sentences. I don't see the connection between you suggesting the West is mass killing Muslims with this event other than you show what I was criticizing, the denial of terrorism and turning terrorists into political victims of the West.

The point is, all of us will have to fight terrorists in our back yards. They will not go away calling them victims who only bite if first bitten.

Don't let the U.S. hog all the credit....Canada's OPERATION ATTENTION Rotos 1 -3 trained lots of Afghan troops and security forces. Other NATO partners contributed as well:

Operation ATTENTION was Canada’s participation in the NATO Training Mission–Afghanistan (NTM-A), which delivers training and professional development support to the national security forces of Afghanistan: the Afghan National Army (ANA), the Afghan Air Force (AAF), and the Afghan National Police (ANP).

I hear you like to troll Canadian political boards where the hardware is based in Texas, but whatever, USA USA USA.

Not to mention a pretty terrible title. 'The Yanks are coming' ???? /facepalm

First off Ghost I started the title not Bush. Here I am if you have a comment. Secondly you don't like the title aw gee. What a shame. I suppose if it contained an insult about the US you would have liked it. I doubt you even know the song I was referring to.

Next the point was it was classically and on cue demonstrated in certain responses, is that some of you deny, rationalize and try sanitize what terrorists do and are and use this fantasy selective moral selection exercise of pissing on the US when it does fight terrorism and not apologize for doing so. .

Trolling? Its interesting you only use that term only when people write things you disagree with.

When its done to piss on the US or Israel, an incite hatred against both or to apologize for what terrorists are , hey now how silent you are.
