Well? It's never been a thing until recently. I've never had a problem with it until recently. Suddenly, it's happening at an alarming rate.

It's also resulting in a great deal of off topic discussion.

Is the Forum Facilitator a second moderator? If not, should be be acting as one? I believe he was originally given the ability to delete posts in order to get rid of spam. This seems far beyond that, and it's actually causing conversation to be affected.

I think it's happened once this year.

You've been going around deleting 'bad words' regularly. That didn't happen before. I was, until recently, very happy with your performance in your position.

That's fine, as it doesn't really matter what I think. You're doing fine, it's probably just me. I'm not much for censorship of the offensive.

You can't say in one post that MH is doing fine and it's just you, and then in another, call him out for doing his job. That's simply not fair.

I think it can be assumed that the mods are going to delete porn and gore.

And they are getting better at it.

What if we asked management to clarify the policy?

You are doing fine. Carry on.

I know how you feel. I am not for much censorship of the offensive but it does not matter what I think either. He is providing a balance and a 2nd set of critical eyes.

MH has been hiding from public view and nixing foul language exactly as it was explained and expected of him. I certainly never did this much before and neither did Greg.

You are right. We are doing more of it. Some will like it. Some will cry censorship. Others will take it personally.

Where MH's actions affect conversation, I encourage you to report them. You would be surprized if you knew how often I report MH's posts to himself. He gets warnings too.

As far as the rest of your questions, I am not sure how to respond. They kind of sound like asking Who played the drums for The Beatles?

MH has a defined job and permissions which are in harmony with the forum rules and guidelines. He will delete advertizements, nonsense and posts which are not discussion. If you believe he steps out of bounds or perhaps says more than he should, report him and he will hear about.

Should the Forum Facilitator be Deleting "Offensive" Material?

Yes.

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking What is offensive? Regardless, thank you for starting this discussion for it has not been in vain.

We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.

I did have a problem with the removal of 'f****k' when I started a thread about 'GTFO' because I thought the F word was relevant to the topic being discussed. Censorship in that case bothered me because it diminished the relevance of the post. IMO.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I've been difficult lately, but there's a method to what I'm trying to show here.

I wanted clarification. He does well most of the time, and that's why I wanted clarification on this. Maybe it's just me?

I've had a few of my posts completely deleted in the last couple of weeks alone. That certainly does affect conversation. No notice as to why either. I think a certain openness ought to be a part of michael's routine rather than having him skulk about deleting things without any explanation.

You're either missing his point or being obtuse. Either way, your opinion on this is certainly not the end all be all.

Stop saying 'it's just you'. Don't you see that statement is diminishing what you are trying to express?

Why are you attacking me? You consistently attack me, however I'm not sure why.

Why do you consider anyone who disagrees with you an attack?

Weird, my quote of you, and your comment do not line up at all. At any rate, I don't consistently even see you around here every day, let alone read something I differ with. Now if you were an Israel basher who spewed hatred every day and got protected by Hardner, well then you might have a point.

I don't. But you consistently attack me. And I'm tired of it.

Name the last time if it made you so tired.

Good grief. I'm too tired to even address it.

At a different level, it does add a new twist to the game. Kind of interesting to see what keywords and hot buttons bring down the hammer.

I don't miss the profanity at all...it seems to be very popular with some of the young and passionate ones for extra emphasis...no matter.

Kinda reminds me of the time when the defunct CBC Forums used clumsy word filters...we at least get a real human being !
