TV ad wars feature Conservative backfire

Recommended Posts

How did the Conservatives miss this one? An ad designed to show Harper's economic acumen featured the CLOSED CAMARO ASSEMBLY PLANT in Ontario. This closure resulted in 1,000 direct, high pay job losses. With the millions in donations the Tories receive one would expect better research on ad symbolism.

And round one goes to - not the Conservatives.

We have a hard time understanding the simplest of economic concepts. Someone on here suggested giving money to poor parents could solve stupidity. I think it's hilarious That the Harper Government understands so well, how stupid the Canadian population is. How everyone has lost simple logical understanding of reality.

Probably filmed before the Liberal's incompetence in Ontario caused the plant to close.

It's very difficult for the federal party to improve Canada's economy when you have feeble minded idiots at the provincial level seemingly doing everything then can to destroy their own province's economy. It's particularly hard when it's in the largest province in Canada. The government of Ontario has done everything in its power to make the development of new mines difficult, if not impossible, to make forestry less profitable, and to destroy the provinces manufacturing base. Hard to see how this is Harper's fault. Meanwhile in Quebec, their economy continues to be fouled up and slowed down by french language rules and anti-business regulations. Seen the oil development in Quebec? No? Because they won't allow it.

Well, the Liberals are to blame, so maybe the Cons put it there to show that Canada will shut down like the Camaro plant if, you know, the Liberals get elected federally.

Round one goes to anybody who doesn't vote Liberal.

Hey, look at the bright side.

Canada won't have to bail out foreign car makers anymore once Ontario is finished driving all auto manufacturing out.

Oddly enough Harper is loaning hundreds of millions to foreign car makers that don't manufacture anything in Canada whatsoever. They've loaned more money to VWs Mexican operations than Mexico has.

Thank goodness the CBC made this news today, how else would people know about something that is so irrelevant.

I would have thought these type ads, especially such a short one, would have been gone over frame by frame to look for such glaring errors before release. If you know anything about cars, its not hard to recognize a Camaro rolling along a soon to be defunct assembly line. If I was Harper I would be finding a new ad agency, or, even better, a new job.

Liberals to blame for loss of auto jobs in Ontario?

Harper unloaded remaining $3 billion of GM stock recently to balance the current budget, thus relinquishing any leverage over GM for auto layoffs.

Three billion in stock is chump change to GM. They're not going to base any decisions on where to locate auto plants on what some minority stockholder wants.
