August1991
First, it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uY7gLZDmn4 reminded me of a US Viagra/pharma commercial. I was waiting for the rapid voice at the end to say: "Repeated use may induce.... If you suffer from... " In 1968, when Richard Nixon used such techniques to promote himself, the American left castigated him as "The Selling of the President". Some 50 years later, it's perceived as standard politics.Second, no one will remember this video in a few months. For Hillary (née Rodham), it's a good start and doesn't cause any grief.Third, I preferred this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ionFwC1UUUw ----- Maryon Moody (yes, that Moody) said of her husband that behind every great husband was a surprised wife. Bryan
It takes a lot of work to make a video that long that features people talking throughout, yet never gets around to saying anything.

Michael Hardner
First, it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uY7gLZDmn4 reminded me of a US Viagra/pharma commercial. I was waiting for the rapid voice at the end to say: "Repeated use may induce.... If you suffer from... " In 1968, when Richard Nixon used such techniques to promote himself, the American left castigated him as "The Selling of the President". Some 50 years later, it's perceived as standard politics. He was copping the forward-thinking methods of Lyndon Johnson and the "Goldwater will nuke you" campaign. Second, no one will remember this video in a few months. For Hillary (née Rodham), it's a good start and doesn't cause any grief. My impression is that it gives the natural response to point at the screen, and call to the children "look, kids, grandma's running for president". The first straight white males don't appear until well past the 1/2 way mark, and even then one of them is married to a brown lady, and both of them are cleaning up after animals - one is cleaning up after a dog, and the other appears to have a small business emptying cat boxes. I love this aspect of it, as it's intended to infuriate the bloodvessel-bursters over at FOX. White middle-aged males are unattractive, and poking at them will inflame their bulging eyes and neck veins in a way that can only help grandma. Let's see if the Karl Rove types still assume that the rest of the planet thinks they're great, and we get a delicious repeat of the 2012 election night. Nothing gets them madder than marginalizing them, even marginally, especially when they're already winning. It takes a lot of work to make a video that long that features people talking throughout, yet never gets around to saying anything. Where do you get the idea that an election campaign is about saying anything ? It will be years until we're back to that place. Smart people who watch elections can only satisfy themselves by analyzing the strategies.

Shady
I think her rollout was purposely low key. She did a book tour last summer that turned out to be a disaster. And she's coming off of the whole private server, destroying email scandal. The video is an attempt to humanize her, because the general feeling is that she's cold, calculating, and plays by a different set of rules than everybody else. When she says the system still favours the top, and she wants to change that, she is lying.

Hillary Clinton’s insultingly vapid video http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2015/04/13/hillary-clintons-insultingly-vapid-video/ Well, what is she competing with ? The other side will pander, fear-monger, and declare war on "white males" so her approach will probably relax voters at least.... Seriously, this makes Ronald Reagan’s gauzy “It’s Morning Again in America” commercial look like a Brookings Institution seminar on economic policy. That is an apt comparison: a vapid campaign that came across like a coffee commercial, and made Walter Mondale into a very difficult trivia answer. Don't you worry Michael, she'll pander, fear-monger, and re-declar a war on women. The pandering is already evident in that pathetic video of hers. I find all campaign commercials to be vapid and pandering to a certain group. But this is to reach the 'average' person. If so, the 'average' is quite low. Michael Hardner
Why would Canadians watch American political campaign ads ? You don't need to ask such things, as I have answered you: America leads. You also accepted the concept, so no need to be amazed anymore. Just like I'm no longer amazed by (EDITED) the wonders that I witness from our neighbours to the south !
