Shady Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Americans are permitted to insult the POTUS...Canadians do it all the time. Exactly. It's what's great about living in a free society. It's funny though, when Bush was president, Democrats insisted that dissent was the most patriotic thing one could do. Now, not so much. Quote
Shady Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 The republicans clapped while Bibi insulted their POTUS, and their country's foreign policy. That's not nothing. He didn't "insult" the president. One can have legitimate disagreements without insulting somebody. Get over it already. Quote

bush_cheney2004 Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Here are his "insults": ...Because America and Israel, we share a common destiny, the destiny of promised lands that cherish freedom and offer hope. Israel is grateful for the support of American -- of America's people and of America's presidents, from Harry Truman to Barack Obama. We appreciate all that President Obama has done for Israel. Now, some of that is widely known. Some of that is widely known, like strengthening security cooperation and intelligence sharing, opposing anti-Israel resolutions at the U.N. Some of what the president has done for Israel is less well- known. I called him in 2010 when we had the Carmel forest fire, and he immediately agreed to respond to my request for urgent aid. In 2011, we had our embassy in Cairo under siege, and again, he provided vital assistance at the crucial moment. Or his support for more missile interceptors during our operation last summer when we took on Hamas terrorists. In each of those moments, I called the president, and he was there. And some of what the president has done for Israel might never be known, because it touches on some of the most sensitive and strategic issues that arise between an American president and an Israeli prime minister. But I know it, and I will always be grateful to President Obama for that support.... Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

GostHacked Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 The republicans clapped while Bibi insulted their POTUS, and their country's foreign policy. That's not nothing. That's part of the issue, some don't know they are being insulted, all because of how it is worded. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Maybe these experts on insults never watched or read his speech. Watched it all. I guess where you live an insult has to contain something along the lies of nah nah nah nah nah na. The criticisms levelled i this speech are a little more nuanced. Maybe you need to look that word up. Edited March 5, 2015 by On Guard for Thee Quote
Rue Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 He didn't "insult" the president. One can have legitimate disagreements without insulting somebody. Get over it already. He in fact complemented and thanked the President Maybe these experts on insults never watched or read his speech. Of course not. He made a point of complementing the President. I disagree with him going to Congress due to the fact he was in the middle of an Israeli election but as you and Shady point out and I reiterate, he complemented the President. He disagrees with his stance on Iran he went out of his way to explain why without insulting the President. There might be an indirect protocol violation of sorts perceived as a slight to the POTUS and some Democrat Senators, but it pales in comparison to the insults Obama has let fly against Netanyahu publically through snivelly cowardly press releases. Obama dishes out the slaps but can't take them. Two wrongs do not make a right but he's a snively whiner who needs his face slapped for being a rude petulant snit. The Republicans gave him a strong warning. For someone who claims he is a skilled consensus achiever all he has shown is an ability to deadlock Congress and insult his allies. It was partisan pay back-he pissed up wind and now his face is wet. Gee such a surprise. Quote
Bonam Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 He praised Obama and then criticized a particular deal that is currently being negotiated. Nowhere did he "insult" anyone. Quote

marcus Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 You guys are ridiculous for trying to say that this was not an insult to the U.S. president. The whole theatre was purposely done to insult Obama and undermine his policy on Iran. Bibi and the GOP have been holding hands and doing their best to insult Obama since before Obama came to power. Why do you guys try so hard to create an alternate reality? Quote "What do you think of Western civilization?" Gandhi was asked. "I think it would be a good idea," he said.

Hudson Jones Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) No, jonesy, it isn't in the quote. Are your reading skills that poor? They didn't approve of the invitation. Sharky? Are you purposely doing this? What is the invitation for? It's to give a speech that spits in Obama's face and undermines his policy. The American people didn`t approve of the invitation to do the speech. SpankyMcFarland Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) The problem is American weakness. They should never have allowed a foreign leader to speak to Congress against the wishes of the President. Since Nixon agreed the don't ask don't tell deal with Meir, the US has had to support the ambiguity policy and even muzzle its own officials from talking about Israel's nukes. Now the documents are finally appearing that show the US govt. knew of Israel's nuclear program in the eighties but continued to give that country financial assistance in defiance of US law. For sheer brass neckedness, you have to hand it to Bibi, though, palling around in America with self-confessed nuclear spy Arnon Milchan. Both of them should be under investigation for their role in the Smyth affair. Milchan even attended the speech which is quite extraordinary: http://amconfidential.blogspot.ca/2015/03/arnon-milchan-attends-netanyahus.html Edited March 7, 2015 by SpankyMcFarland Quote ‘How small we make our worlds.
