Yay for Harper! What does the world, including Canada think? http://www.jpost.com/National-News/Poll-Israel-viewed-negatively-around-the-world

Israel retained its position as one of the world's most negatively-viewed countries, according to BBC's annual poll published Wednesday night.

With 50 percent of respondents ranking Israel negatively, Israel keeps company with North Korea, and places ahead of only Iran (55% negative) and Pakistan (51% negative).

"What do you think of Western civilization?" Gandhi was asked. "I think it would be a good idea," he said.

Thanks for the giant font. You really think what you say is so important that it needs to be in giant letters? Anyway, survey says a lot more about the gullibility and ignorance of the people polled than it does about Israel.

Why do they have to come clean. Are you suggesting no one knows they have the BOMB. Lol.

Israel does not even confirm the status of their nuclear program. So what are we to think? You agree there is a double standard there.

I was surprised at the Republican move to invite Bibi against the wishes of the White House.

There is an old Bedouin proverb, "Me against my brother; me and my brother against our cousin; and me, my brother and my cousin against the stranger." I believe that the point of that proverb is that levels of allegiance expand from the center.

I know I was very uncomfortable when Harper appeared to be the first Canadian PM who used the world stage to criticize opposition parties. In most democracies, inter party differences are kept as domestic interactions and not to be discussed at the international level. A democracy is represented by its democratically elected leadership and when the leader of a country speaks, he/she speaks for the whole country. Your country must supersede domestic squabbles when you are dealing with the rest of the world.

I think what Harper did and what the Republicans did was wrong and I hope not precedent setting. Any country loses credibility when it undermines its duly elected system to satisfy the agenda of a political party.

The USA will eventually have a Republican president and Canada will have a Liberal PM. Once a precedent has been set it is easy to repeat.

So everyone around the world is anti-semitic. This has nothing to do with Israel's actions and your denial?

How soon people forget that it was a Senator Obama who visited Berlin to give his best JFK impression to about 200,000 people.

Your rate of bad comparisons is quite high compared to others. Not sure why you have this deficiency.

Obama gave his speech after winning the presidency and he wasn't in Berlin to undermine the German government and push for Germany to go into war on behalf of the U.S., instead negotiating for peace.

"What do you think of Western civilization?" Gandhi was asked. "I think it would be a good idea," he said.

Wrong...as usual. Candidate Obama first went to Germany in 2008...after visiting Israel. The sitting U.S. president was George W. Bush.

My mistake. You are correct about the time it was done.

It is still a bad comparison. Most of what I said still stands. He was not there to undermine the Germany chancellor and push Germany into a war on behalf of U.S. instead of negotiating a peace deal.

Trained seals is a better description of some Canadians worship of Obama.

The proverb quoted by Big Guy is apt. The republicans applauded a man, who collects billions in aid and equipment, that criticized the US, the POTUS, and their foreign policy while standing in congress. That is not just bad form, but quite embarrassing for the country.

Actually, he would proceed to spy on the German chancellor with the help of the NSA.

Complete nonsense. He doesn't collect any money. The state does, regardless of who's PM. And he has every right to voice concerns over a nuclear deal that he has no input on, but has to live under. Furthermore, as an equal branch of government, congress has every right to invite him to speak. Not to mention that congress has foreign policy oversight responsibilities. This is all much ado about nothing. Get over it already.

Once again, irrelevant and a bad attempt at drawing a parallel.

President Obama would go on to wage more wars...not peace. The parallels are obvious except for those who refuse to see.

All Bibi has done is to take Israel to one of its darkest eras. The arrogance. The bullying. The lack of appreciation. It's like watching some spoiled teenage girl, kicking her father in the balls, while crying for more.

The only positive out of this is that Bibi has contributed in accelerating the end of the Apartheid regime by drawing attention to the plight of the Palestinians to the masses. It's not a coincidence that Israel is viewed so negatively around the world.

The republicans clapped while Bibi insulted their POTUS, and their country's foreign policy. That's not nothing.

To Shady - How would you feel if a committee of the Canadian Senate invited Ali Khamenei, or Putin to come to speak about Canadian the anti-terror bill in direct opposition to the PMO?

Merkil and the German people welcomed Obama with open arms. Obama and the American people, not so much towards Bibi.

Obama did not undermine Merkil's foreign policy plans and openly criticize Merkil. Netanyahu has been repeatedly criticizing Obama before he became president. He even put an ad up in Florida, openly criticizing Obama and endorsing his opponent.

Your attempt at drawing a parallel failed again.

There is a reason no one likes the spoiled, arrogant little girl (the prostitutes in Congress and the Zionist zealots not included).

Well said and I would add embarrassing for himself. He kept on making references to WWII, sometimes attempting to be subtle, sometimes not. Also he tried to tie ISIS to Iran, kind of the way Bush tried to tie Al Qaeda to Saddam. He of course ignored the fact that he was a strong supporter of Bush in his Iraq war which kind of backfired as it left Iran with much more power in the region. Its no wonder the speech was not so well received by those beyond the those.....clapping monkeys....(not my term), in congress.

Well at least that might give Harper justifiable reason for one of his tantrums.

Are those long time allies? So in your world, inviting a Prime Minister of an ally is equivilant to inviting a homocidal dictator? That's completely absurd.
