Big Guy Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Eve Adams just did the old "dance across the floor" to the Liberals. Did Justin do a smart thing accepting her? Boges Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Eve Adams just did the old "dance across the floor" to the Liberals. Did Justin do a smart thing accepting her? I'm sure those that applaud her for leaving the CPC would be the same that were very critical of her in the past months for the nepotism she's been accused of in the past. Big Guy Posted February 9, 2015 Author Report Posted February 9, 2015 Robert Fife of CTV commented that he thought it was the price Trudeau had to pay to get Dimitri Soudas (Eve's live in partner) into the Liberal fold. Dimitri had been in the Harper inner circle from the start and knows where all the bodies are buried. If that is the case, there should be some very interesting information coming out during the election. It's the least bit telling that JT wants a guy that was shunned from the CPC because of corruption into their fold? This reeks of desperation. Quote
Keepitsimple Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) It will be interesting to see how the media plays this one. She was not treated kindly in the nomination battle for her riding amidst accusations that her partner, Dmitri Soudas was pulling strings. Will she now be a shining MP - or will this be framed as another error in judgement by Trudeau? Argus Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 She crossed the floor because she had no future in a party which has an open nomination process. Her reputation is pretty poor. No one was impressed with her exorbitant expense claims for beauty products, and she lost the Tory nomination. Now as a Liberal, the powers up top will order the local riding association to accept her, regardless of flaws. As has been observed before, the idea that Trudeau will usher in a new wave of power amongst ordinary MPs is a joke. His is a top-down, autocratic leadership even more than Harper's. Boges Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) So are her ongoing issues no longer a concern now that she's a Liberal? She was considered a star candidate in 2011 so kicking her from caucus shouldn't be taken lightly. And women from an area of the country Harper needs are far more likely to get a cabinet position just by the nature of having to have a representative cabinet. See Lisa Raitt. I would argue, however, a more questionable decision would be to try and get someone with such obvious baggage to change teams. Edited February 9, 2015 by Boges Quote
cybercoma Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 No. She's an idiot and has been an idiot. But I find it hilarious that Conservatives are suddenly dog-piling on her when she has been a parliamentary secretary. If she was so awful, then what does that say about Stephen Harper's judgment? cybercoma Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 Trudeau is stupid for taking her on though. People who change parties, as a rule, tend to disappear rather quickly. Where's Belinda Stronach today? Quote

Derek 2.0 Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 I don’t see why the Liberals would accept Adams, she’s politically damaged goods, likewise Soudas……I suppose from her perspective though, since she wasn’t to run again as a Conservative anyways, this allows her to attempt to stay in the House…….. Next up, Rob Anders……….. Quote
Boges Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 She knew she was on the outs so she crossed the floor. The fact that JT accepted her was a foolish move. Quote

Big Guy Posted February 9, 2015 Author Report Posted February 9, 2015 I think posters underestimate the value of Dimitri Soudas. He is the former Press Secretary to Harper and Executive Director of the Conservative Party of Canada. He has been at Harpers right hand from the Alliance days and was his political "hit" man that got Harper elected. This guy was not only knowledgeable of all of the shady things going on but was also the guy initiating most of them. These political mercenaries are for hire. Good ones are very hard to find and if Soudas is indeed turned to opening up to the Liberals then some very, very interesting information that can come out. Dimitri was in the inner circle from the Cadman fiasco to robocalls to Wallin and Duffy. If he was not behind these initiatives then he was certainly knowledgeable of who was doing what. He also has a full understanding of the Conservative strategy for the next election. If Dimitri is really miffed at the way his sweetie has been treated and is really ready to give pay back then the PMO better watch out. I believe that this guy can sink that ship with what he knows. A Dimitri catch is worth putting up with three Eve's. Buy hey - that's politics! Boges Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 No doubt. And yet she was elected ... ! . Before all this came out. She was a successful local politician, she's attractive and she was running in a GTA riding. Seemed like a No Lose proposition in hindsight. Quote
