PIK Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 He has to give it up or pull out of the race. And with his comments about our soldiers are not allowed to protect themselves in Iraq ,should be enough to dismiss this man. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
GostHacked Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 How many politicians hold dual citizenship? Quote
guyser Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 LOL. Welcome to 2012. Catching up on the news are we? The things Conservatives worry about......so funny. Didja know the housing crash happened too? Quote
Ash74 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 IT is election shots like this that embarrass us conservatives. Ash74 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Does that growth dildo hurt much? Its gotten really big under the Conservatives lol . Good point but the other leanings would disagree. Harper has been too busy killing puppies and setting fires to homeless shelters to grow the economy. Quote “Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. -1=e^ipi Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 how can we then allow a Prime Minister to hold allegiance to another power? Because Senator != Prime Minister. Furthermore, I see no problem with a politician holding double citizenship, especially with a country with similiar values as Canada. I have duo citizenship, what's wrong with that? As an aside, all the more reason to abolish the senate, or better yet, become a republic. The whole concept of pledging allegiance to a country, a flag or a monarch is silly. It would be far preferable to have people pledge allegiance to ideas such as freedom of speech, freedom of press, secularism and the scientific method. Quote

guyser Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 So, pull the Constitution out for every single argument any of you have. Yet let's not actually abide by the constitution. Now why would we do that? That would be silly What a bunch of fucking hypocrites. Not really for reasons you havent a clue about, but hey, go on...this is fun. And guyser, thanks for your usual nothing added personal attack comment. There was absolutely no personal attack in my post. But hey, if you havent a clue what you are arguing maybe I should have. Cuz ya know....there is nothing in the Constitution that forbids this. In fact Mulcair could become a Senator tomorrow, legally. See it says..."Disqualification of Senators"...meaning they are already one. Now go read the news for 2013, theres a new Pope and a new future King. Fascinating really. Have a nice day. Quote

cybercoma Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 You know the Prime Minister is not our Head of State, right? Quote
GostHacked Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Question - Does the Prime Minister pledge allegiance to Canada, or the symbolic figure head monarch? Quote
-1=e^ipi Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Question - Does the Prime Minister pledge allegiance to Canada, or the symbolic figure head monarch? The current prime minister's allegiance belongs to the fairy tale of the talking snake and the rib lady. Quote

Thanks Madonald died 19 years before there was such a thing as Canadian citizenship. All Canadians were British subjects at the time. Turner was born in the UK, not quite the sane thing as a Canadian born citizen seeking the citizenship of another country. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
The_Squid Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Turner was born in the UK, not quite the sane thing as a Canadian born citizen seeking the citizenship of another country. He came to Canada at age 3. He had plenty of time to renounce his citizenship before becoming PM. He was clearly a traitor. Can he still be charged??? Quote

Keepitsimple Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Right, wrong or indifferent, I think it's an impediment for anyone seeking to be a country's leader. You need every vote you can get and there a bound to be some who would be confused, if not put off by someone having duel citizenship......as can clearly be seen in this thread. Quote Back to Basics

Can he still be charged??? I guess that could depend on whether he took an oath of allegience to the UK. Canadian born citizens aren't subject to taking an oath of allegience to this country and Turner was born in the UK to a Canadian mother so he didn't have any choice as to whether he had dual citizenship. He certainly didn't actively seek it. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
